Love it Matt :D I was indeed propelled to Tesco and back in a TU-powered vehicle :) Bluebell in fact, as I needed to fill her with petrol ready for the FCF meet tomorrow... - There, another T!

Sorry to hear of your tedious Tuesday... I trust it's rapidly improving :)

Thanks Jim, there was a family of about 4 of the young birds , and their protection response is pretty much to stay where they are, so can pose for the camera. Even more so with the ground nesting birds like Lapwings(Peewit) I'll sneak these shutter clicks into "T-day" using a threadstarter's privilege allowable tangent :-D

Didn't need Threadstarters Privilege at all for the Peewit pics. One of its alternative names is Tewit.

There is even one of the Wells in the spa town of Harrogate named after the Tewit
Wiki informs us https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tewit_Well
After marrying Elizabeth Broad, William Slingsby (uncle of Sir William Slingsby)[1] took his new wife on a Grand Tour of Europe. In 1571,[2] Slingsby discovered that water from a well in Knaresborough Forest, now called The Stray, public parkland in Harrogate, possessed similar properties to that at Spa in Belgium. He named the well "Tewit", after a local word for peewit or lapwing, a bird which still frequently flocks on the Stray.

It is with great personal pleasure I announce that within its 41 million books and texts a site called "The Internet Archive" has preserved in full colour the entire first edition of "Tootles The Taxi and Other Rhymes" by Joyce Blaikie Clegg and published by Ladybird Books of Loughborough in 1956.

The link
https://archive.org/details/tootles-the ... her-rhymes

Not only does this book have Tootles the Taxi, but also Tony the Tractor, Timbo the Trolley Bus, and Terry the tanker and the evocative colourful artwork of John Kenney to go with the well-loved Rhymes.

Seeing as I am following on from Petrol Station of the day....Terry the Tanker gets first outing.

Having cleared out the greenhouse, cleaned all the windows, frame and floor and then refitted all the shelves and stuff that lives on them, mainly bird food!, I was pleased to hear SWMBO declare it as a Top job! :-D
To qualify with more evidence for T day I also managed to get a shot of one of our Blue Tits using the camera phone on full zoom, so not too easy to recognise. I've added the orange ring to save you hunting for it! :-D

You'll need to click on the picture for any chance of seeing him feeding on the suet log in there!

Not Tony the Tractor from Tootles the Taxi, not sure if this workhorse was ever given an affectionate name by a phlegmatic farmer. Having a nice snooze in a broken roof barn in the sunlight, and not likely to have moved for some time.

"Thomas Trivia" you may or may not be aware of...

According to Wiki, and mentioned by Rev W Awdry many times, part of the inspiration for his first story in the railway series was this rhyme, a favourite of his.

"Early in the morning,
Down at the station,
All the little engines
Standing in a row.

Along comes the driver,
Pulls the little lever
Puff, puff! Chuff, chuff!
Off we go!

That inspired the very first story...Edward's Day out and the others followed on. With a few amendments to wording , the rhyme was set to music and released by Tommy Dorsey in 1948.

The pioneer of the Railway Series was a the book called "The Three Railway Engines"
I doubt anyone has a copy of "The Three Railway Engines" on their shelves. Take a well deserved 1000 points if you have and post it up here.

I see the "Internet Archive" has the original Books, including the illustrations which brought the series to life by Leicestershire Artist Clarence Reginald Dalby. Looks like you can "borrow" them for free under a library type arrangement to access them online.
