Heres a bit of an interesting musical diversion with a link to another one of our "L" Counties.

The Lincolnshire connection :?: right at the end of the piece they feature another of his compositions which is very well known....except that he did use the Lincolnshire Poacher for the tune...

PS Trivia Fact it is neither Rod Stewart or the Stereophonics who "do" the version for "The Office" theme. but Big George with Finn Muir on vocals. There is a version on you tube if you want to find it.

:-D Have you ever tasted LHM Matt? It's absolutely revolting! Mind you, it's a fantastic hair conditioner... I've got it in my hair on many occasions and upon washing your hair it ends up beautifully soft :D Better than any conditioner I've ever tried ;)

Pub Names Beginning with "L" from pubnames.com

Scanned down this list, came across Lamplighter, reminded me of Leerie the Lamplighter by R.L. Stevenson and a recent little FCF tangent. (viewtopic.php?p=751577#p751577)
Lo and behold I find that only last November the Falcons had a little tour over to the Lake District and actually stayed in the Lamplighter in Windermere...

That'll be good for your skin ;) Remember the old orange Wright's coal-tar soap! Still available but no longer has any tar in it... Tea Tree oil these days... I miss the genuine stuff.

You can still get genuine creosote based medicated hair shampoo - it's good stuff and makes you smell like a newly treated fence

Creosote and hot tar is one of my favourite smells - and great for clearing a stuffy nose 8-)

And as it's 'M' day, here's my offering... 26.2 miles of magic - a Marathon :D

For my initial "M" I would be doing my own motoring history a disservice if I didn't allocate the slot to my first car. Complete lack of photographs of it unfortunately but I do have the Handbook, and its first ever Tax Disc in my ownership.

Obviously started off in minimum initial outlay mode with Tax for 4 months. Paid more in tax on that in 1978 for four months, than I do currently on my Leaf for the full year :-D

Mallard. Now this was an achievement. Taking a non-blurry picture from a moving train at precisely the right moment I mean! If you have travelled the East Coast main line through Lincolnshire you will have passed it, but probably not seen it.

Durham's Wharton Park is in my estimation the finest place on planet earth for watching trains. I am biased of course filled with nostalgic memories of hot summer days in the early sixties when I was a boy. High above the city with its own little mock castle viewpoint, the magnificent castle and cathedral in the background and a tremendous viaduct to allow the locomotives to make their dramatic entrance to the scene.

..and yes, the greatest excitement of all was the sight of a "Streamliner" thundering through.

One of my customers was a crane engineer, he told us he was servicing one of those overhead rolling cranes in a big factory, undid the wrong bolt and had to sit whilst forty gallons of hydraulic oil poured over him.

I have a tenuous connection with the Mallard. My dad and granddad prepared it for exhibition in the York Railway Museum. We always had free entry there.
