If the heating element fails, is it the owner's responsibility to provide a working seat heater for BMW to charge a subscription on it, or is it BMWs responsibility to provide a working seat heater as it's an integral part of that subscription service ?
My thought would be that a subscription requires a product. If the product breaks then either the recipient repairs the product or ceases the charge! :)
Surely though, if you are 'renting' the option, in this case heated seats, and it breaks, then the owner of the option (the renter) should ensure its "fit for purpose" and fully functioning, therefore, if it's fitted it's their responsibility not the rentees and any repairs are undertaken FOC.
Yes they could always say that option is not available anymore!

Am pretty sure "customer pays, regardless" will prevail

I.e. you can continue to pay the monthly bill whether it works or not, plus an additional fee to fit a new heater pad. "Ah that's fair wear and tear, not part of your subscription, sir"

I'm hanging on to my ICE vehicle for as long as I can in the hope that the reality brigade wake up and stop all this nonsense.

I make a firm commitment that I will never buy a BEV with software. I may convert my own EV one day which will be based on 1960s milk float technology and computers will not get a look in !! :-D

GiveMeABreak wrote: 02 Mar 2023, 12:06 Back on topic, this is the sort of thing I'm on about re the pay per feature: He does waffle a bit and it takes him a while to get to the point, so time index 7:00 if you want to skip.
As per his Porsche: £1100 for 'Comfort Opening' - that's a complete joke and as good an example of greed as I've seen.
I disagree. If someone is daft enough to pay for such a feature, let them. I don't want on need comfort opening on the next new Porsche I buy. I presume it's electronic and doesn't cause extra weight, so, if it's there and not activated, I shall be more than happy.

For anyone that wants to know what he's on about re: the (non fabric conditioner) comfort opening this is it:

I've already got hands free access included and many PSA cars have the hands full 'swipe your foot under the bumper' to open the tailgate for you feature. But £1100 for it on a Porsche - they can swing for it.
