A few images from yesterday:
Not quite an English Wheel
Not quite an English Wheel
Old (inside) Vs new
Old (inside) Vs new
Old has change in profile midway along its length. New one ignores this and, well I will sort this out with the but which meets it, hopefully!

For a sill / cill yes, but not patching over, I've cut the rotten bit out, hoping (or at least trying!) to make a proper job of it :-D

Sill in English, according to the Cambridge dictionary.
Sill
Sill
Sill in Swedish is herring, if it comes from the west coast.
Strömming if it comes from the Baltic, to be made into the dreaded Surströmming.

Tyre seated nicely, a smaller POP! than I expected (was expecting to jump out my skin!!) Think the slippery paste/soap stuff at least helped the motion of the bead against the rim.

I've put the 308 SW's space saver tyre back on too. I'd intended to demount, de-rust then reinstate the tyre again, then flog it online (as have 6 alloys at present, so a proper spare instead)

But having looked online there are loads of 308 space saver spares in remarkably good condition. I can't help but wonder if the hatchback has a wheel well and so the spare does not see all the weather (whereas the SW it hangs directly underneath). I wouldn't say the SW spare isn't far from terminally rusty = it's absolutely grim!!

The pristine spares go for as little as 30 quid so this rusty thing is virtually worthless and certainly not worth wasting time on.

So... I wasted time tapping the loose rust off and giving it a very quick treatment with the phosphoric acid. As much to see what the acids does for it to be honest!
