That's why I put a link to an eBay seller on my post - so you can buy it from that big Chinese importer in to the UK that doesn't go under the name 'Temu'. 8-[

Coincidentally, LargeClive has just had a look inside a cheap Chinese plastic welder / stapler and given it a resounding "It's OK" :) Considering they can be bought for just over £11 delivered including 200 staples it seems like a worthwhile investment. I'm under no illusions that the welder is designed to last only until you've used up all 200 staples - but at that price I think it can earn it's keep. It's the sort of thing that could be used to reinforce shonky old Citroen AX dashboards that are splitting.... not that that would apply to anyone on the FCF of course

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134948082850

Oh, that is temptingly cheap! Another tool to add to my "collection" :)

And surprisingly non-lethal design found inside!! Sounds like better circuitry to look after the LEDs (a diode for the red one, not sure beyond that would help?) and perhaps a few small vent holes to help that teeny transformer keep cool, could be sensible improvements. Oh and less than 13amp fuse too! (Consumes 12 watts but can get all the way up to 3,000 watts for a really nice big bang if it did go wrong! :rofl2: )

Laptop on charge, off for a play at resetting the additive level shortly. (Laptop battery is good, and weather isn't, so am happy enough running it stand alone if I keep an eye on things, I know always plugged in is the recommendation)

(Play with the laptop is instead to be tomorrow's job, after work)

Quick bit of research, I've gone for this set:
eBay item
eBay item
£10.59 Inc delivery, includes 200 staples (split over 4 types) plus also side cutters, craft knife and box to keep it all together.

1200 staples seems to be about £8, so if device proves itself, will probably get through 200 quickly and that's not too bad to get a lifetime supply!

Few hairline cracks on the Coupe bumper (which they are prone to) but will do more out of sight structural repairs - like yesterday's splash guard - till I have got a feel for it.

I wonder what they've skimped on to save 50p over the one I posted ? There's so little in them that there's not a lot of savings to be found. P'raps you don't get the optional 13 amp fuse in yours - on a lot of these cheap import items the fuse isn't actually in circuit anyway  :?

Flipping heck, I had in my mind the cutters, case etc was extra over the first one I'd looked at (i.e. your link!) - should have checked again and see they are near identical now, D'oh!

Yes, having watched Clive's teardown on some of the more dubious items, I'll plug it in with the fuse removed and see if it works regardless! Was shocked when I saw that as I just can't guess what they are playing at! It's not even as though they'd saved themselves the cost of a fuse seeing as they'd included one anyway just omitted it's function with in the plug!

If it is any good I may invest in one. My lad dropped his bike and cracked the fairing, might repair it for him.
Hasn't used it in ages though, bought a touring bike when he acquired a girlfriend.

Whenever I read the comments section when someone uses one of these plastic staple welders on Youtube, someone always says you should twist the staple a bit just as you're withdrawing heat-power from it as it beds the staple better. I'm looking forward to trying this on a kitchen bin liner I've got here that's cracked at the top. Seems a bit odd that the tool to fix the problem is about half the price of the bin it's fixing :?

I've bought one from bobins link as well, just to have a play with and possibly repair a crack in my dash! :)

I feel I ought to put in a disclaimer at this point:

"Don't blame me if they turn out to be a load of tat"

That should cover it :-D

Yes, I've repeatedly seen same advice, makes sense. Think also smoothing over the top (with the soldering iron, not just sanding flat) would also engulf the staple and add strength.

Not to single you out as a sado - as I feel exactly the same! - but I could see folks reading that and saying "looking forward to!??" :-D

Like £50 on a tyre changer + £8 on sealant + £3 on a valve tool

To change a tyre you can buy complete with new rim for ...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155772603115?
£54.99

:-D

Interesting Matt , I like how you put up all the Diagbox screens so the whole picture can be seen :)

So has telling the ECU you've replaced the DPF made it happy with the pump fault and injector faults cleared?
