A good idea that - especially at £11! As it turns out I've already got Lidl's version of the same pump! I used it when draining off the diesel from the C5, works well in that application.

When I did the additive top up on the 206 I just squeezed the bottle and it filled up very easily - if it goes as well as that, I'm happy that I'll not need a pump. If that was just beginner's luck back then, and this proves more reluctant, then I'll keep that electric pump in mind :)

Instructions
Instructions
What's the general consensus?
drain refill with water plus flush run for 10 minutes then drain,

Or

Just flush in with what's there now and 10 minutes then drain that?

I was thinking the former but the instructions seem to suggest the latter!

I would drain and flush with water then refill with the flushing agent added,

Spot on, makes the most sense to me too, was a bit surprised the instructions didn't suggest the same!
Perhaps written as "least faff" Vs "most effective"

Additive top up, this seems a handy guide:

Bit of a slow start today, but that's first on the list.

Well, does not seem to have gone to smoothly as the video suggests!

The large plastic undertray seen on the video is a tiny flap on an SW. No major drama to remove.

Pipe in same location on tank.

However having added only about a third of the bottle much to my surprise found it erupting from the connector on tank itself!

Finger over the hole I've only managed to get a bit more in.

Interestingly the bottle cap with hose tail on this kit also includes a small bypass route presumably for air to escape. Fair to say squeezing the bottle in this setup not a good idea.

It doesn't seem to burn on your bare skin straight away but guess I'm not supposed to be wearing as much of it as I am presently...

Off for a cleanup

It is a messy job, thats why i use the pump its faster and less mess , get that stuff off your hands matt, its not good for you at all. My first refill was my 206cc that taught me use a pump its less hassle the gravity feed method dont work its messy and its a hit amd miss affair. When i used the pump for the first time it was so much better.

It's odd really, I'd no issue getting it out the bottle down the pipe and into the tank just by gravity - it was only that it was coming from the other connection that was my problem. It suggests the tank is near full rather than empty (and so it overflowed once I'd put an extra say half a litre in!?!

Who knows at present. There's definitely some in there now, so clearing the error codes is next priority job.

When I get chance, I'll unbolt the tank complete and then can perhaps empty it, confirm how full it is, then refill again.

Other jobs completed today:
Cabin filter, very easy, access is excellent, cover pulls off by hand and filter easily retrieved. Existing item, "Comline" only moderately dirty which is positive news.

Ive known some tanks with 800ml still in and for some reason the brain of the car screams it need refilling , if its come out the overflow as you say then you have a full tank, reset the counters then your be all good. Since i did my 308cc last year its only used 25mls from a tad over a litre.

This is the "coolant" just what syphoned out of the header tank (ahead of begining the flush)

Feel better that filth being removed even no performance benefit!

Gearbox casing generally oily all over. Not done the gearbox drain and refill yet, but wondering if this is from within or engine is weeping from somewhere. Something to investigate soon.

The later DV6 air filter housing is a funny thing, very flat and with the post filter air flow fed back from top half to bottom half on its way the the airflow meter

When i did my 308cc , i thought the rest of the fluid tank covers had fallen off or not put back on by previous owners, till i then found out it only had a flap piece . As for the air filter i mean whats wrong with a square type all that effort for a funny arm shape thing lol, which costs more than the usual shape. Oh well .

Coincidentally, LargeClive has just had a look inside a cheap Chinese plastic welder / stapler and given it a resounding "It's OK" :) Considering they can be bought for just over £11 delivered including 200 staples it seems like a worthwhile investment. I'm under no illusions that the welder is designed to last only until you've used up all 200 staples - but at that price I think it can earn it's keep. It's the sort of thing that could be used to reinforce shonky old Citroen AX dashboards that are splitting.... not that that would apply to anyone on the FCF of course
