Ha ha! I'll be getting "a fat head" - I'm very pleased indeed that my waffling on here is enjoyable to others!

I have thought about YouTube - not as I'm interested in making my fortune, going viral or whatever! But just as some things would be better captured on video than still images.

However I watched a few HubNut videos where he gave a hit of an insight into the time commitment involved - the video editing etc to turn stuff captured into something "watchable" that flows rather than sort of "you've been framed" raw footage is quite an undertaking!

I'm just not going to find the time to (learn how to do the video editing and) make the videos something enjoyable to watch.

So you'll have to make do with still images and waffle for the moment at least! :-D

Oh it's all good.

I've contributed to long-since "dead" threads on here if there's something additional that I think it's worth adding - I used to be more of a "lurker" just reading stuff found off Google searches, but there is very often something useful you can add "all helps the next guy" as it were :)

I've had a Youtube channel for 11 years but so far I have only posted about 25 videos on it. I use it as a video store really and as a method of getting the odd video up on here. To be fair, all my videos are odd!! :-D

For example:

Not expecting any Oscar nominations in the foreseeable!! :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Think my "hypothetical channel" would be much the same Mick! Interesting to me but probably generally just odd for most folks :-D

Box finally unpacked today, summary of contents:
Very shiny red painted all over, even over the burrs!
Typical made as cheap as possible tolerances on everything and any moving piece devoid of any grease.
But who cares! I bought the cheapest possible, so have got exactly what I paid for!

Modifications as follows:
- Greased the moving parts, squeaks and graunching eliminated!
- Angle grinder flap disk over all rough edges + round and flat files to dress up everywhere else.
- lots of new mounting holes drilled on the feet of the unit. Mostly 8mm, but some 6mm then countersunk (where I think the sidewall of the tyre will rest which in "bead breaking mode"") this will allow me to bolt down with 8mm coach screws and large countersunk screws (into plugs in concrete or pallet as discussed above)
- raw edges painted terribly (as two tins of red spray paint both failed to function well and apathy set in!)

Pleased with the purchase, will see if fits yet 8 inch wheels shortly.

2 failed spray cans sounds like you either have them too cold or are not giving them a really good 5 minute shake before trying them. Unless of course they are both 'open' cans and the nozzles are blocked due to not inverting them and spraying them clean after the last use!! Just saying!! :-D

Yes, borderline too cold I think. Were given a good shake but nearer 2 minutes than 5.

They are part used cans and pretty ancient - came from a garage clearing I helped a mate complete about a decade ago and very much not new (or unused) when they came my way.

I do the upside down squirt to finish technique but it's doesn't seem to be 100% guaranteed they'll go again. Considering they cost me nothing I'm not too worried.

If my tyre changing setup is ever nicked I'll be able to identify it "officer, the equipment you've recovered - is it crudely spattered in a very poor match of darker red? It is, ah, yes that'll be mine then!" :)

I was going to complain about the terrible nuts and bolts provided with the kit - M10 but weirdly with small 14mm hex heads!?! No clearance issue to explain it. Nuts slim, half way to being lock nuts and very loose fit nut to bolt thread.

I thought "I've thrown away better stuff than these!" So went to the spare bolts bucket and sure enough, four high tensile M10 bolts (ex 306 bottom ball joint to wishbone. I remember as thought it was odd they were fine pitch thread. Yes I know I am a saddo for recalling the back story of some rusty bolts...) Recovered to reuse. wire brushed the threads, assembled some new washers. Splodge of copper grease and bolted together. Second hand Nyloc nuts Aldi reused, of no spare M10 fine thread Nyloc, only standard pitch.

Much chuntering about the 14mm bolt heads - until I realised whilst assembling that one of the reused M10 bolts (presumably from another job) had a 16mm hex rather than standard 17mm! :rofl2:

Success!

Will it fit an 8" wheel? (seller states "15"-21") = yes
Is it easy to use when not fastened down? = no!

This tyre was seated, so not tested the bead breaker yet

Does this away with my world the next job isn't "drill the floor" instead it is "try and make the SDS drill work again" it's been asking a little bit and seemed as though needed a general clean out. However the job has just grown...

Rather amazingly £1.71 including postage for a new 609Z (marking on the bearing. Is actually a 609ZZ)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176012819403

Will hold off splashing out such vast sums until I have got this off. Couple of flat screwdrivers either side isn't shifting it in the slightest. Grinder next

This is the slightly tired rim:

Which is donating it's zero miles tyre:

To the decent rim :)
