I do love seeing the tidy welding you do - I must get into that one day as it looks so satisfying!

Thank you! I'm quite enjoying it, it's something I wondered about trying for a good long while, so it's good to get stuck into it.

Another MPG calc for the C5
610 miles,
63.01 litres (at 146.7 ppl) = 13.9 gallons

44 mpg - happy with that.

308:

Reported as running rough again (and minimal mileage since the Morecambe regen run) = rather short interval for needing another regen?? Will have to plug in DiagBox as doesn't seem right. (No EML at present) job for when I get home :)

It's a very short interval Matt, I'm only aware of Polly doing a regen once in my ownership and only because the heated rear window sprang into life all on its own - or she does them so undramatically I don't notice!

Be interesting to see what Diagbox says...

They are, in my experience this far, very subtle and not that noticeable.

The (16v DV6 equipped) 206 wasn't very noticeable at all, until, well actually until the exhaust fell off! It did so on a long journey away from home - being as resourceful as usual, my wife had re-secured it with the strap off her overnight bag and continued the rest of the 100-odd mile journey for a course. Coventry or somewhere like that. I therefore only heard of the eventful journey after it's completion.

For the return leg, she managed to borrow a 13mm spanner, and being a Peugeot exhaust, it just undid without challenge (compare contrast with typical one pipe sleeved over the next type exhaust joints!) and the full rear silencer went in the boot.

On the return trip she found actually very little different in noise, so a new plan was hatched for the fix...

New "rear section"
New "rear section"
With a lovely bit of (3" ! Phwoar!) Polished stainless tube as the end piece. Straight pipe rather than big back box.

Anyway, what's this got to do with regen?

Post straight pipe, there's a very obvious drone, at about 60mph just when it's doing the regen! (Rest of the time doesn't drone at all)

Trailer(s) update:

Currently I have, well too many trailers! Two small hobby trailers and a nice big one.

Small ones are 4.8x8 inch wheels and the big one runs 5.0x10 inch.

I've a spare with one of the small trailers tyre is fine but the rim, fastened flat under the draw bar and out in all weather, it's completely rotten.
I also had a puncture on the other little trailer so swapped that and have the rim with punctured tyre.

The big trailer I had my "wheel falling off incident" which damaged the wheel rim (looks fine but noticeable run out wobble!) Plus, from it's former life in a field, I've another rim with a very, very perished 10" radial tyre.

I've asked at a few places and am struggling to find anyone with a tyre machine that goes small enough to suit these small wheels!

So I went shopping instead!

£50.59 Inc delivery. Should arrive Tuesday. I looked at second hand and best I could find was £35 on Facebook Marketplace - for the sake of £15 I'll have a new one delivered, no bits missing, whatever warranty it comes with etc.

I've done the smaller trailer tyres by hand Matt... Albeit with big levers but still hard work!

That machine should make it a doddle :D

When I ran an early Renault 4 in the 70s with tubed tyres I used to swap tyres and fix punctures myself and carried the kit in the car. Once I fixed a puncture by the side of the road...

Big heavy box filled with shiny red painted lumps of steel arrived yesterday dinnertime. Not had chance to build yet and needed to persuade my youngest the box wasn't going to be an exciting new permanent feature in the front room!

Tyre lever seems impressively chunky build, so fingers crossed it's up to the job. The plate against which the wheel sits might be a bit big for the 8 inch wheels, will have a measure once it's assembled (likely the weekend)

Will have to pick a spot to mount it, was thinking drop in anchors and bolts but instead I'll try coach screws and big plugs for a start. Could always drill another few holes in the feet and spread the load over more fixing positions

If you don't want to permanently mount it somewhere, then bolt it to a sturdy pallet as that should do the job.

Good idea, my plan was to pick a spot, outside most likely, drill and plug into the (not especially beautiful!) concrete and use the coach screws to fasten in place. Once I've done the tyres I'll unbolt it again and just leave the plugs in place for next time.

It needs good access all around in use from watching the YouTube videos of similar, so it definitely can't be permanently fixed as it'll be too much of an obstacle (and likely go rusty if I go for an outdoor spot)

Pallet a good shout though too.

I've got an air powered mandraulic tyre fitter in storage on a pallet and that works fine for occasionally doing my car tyres.
