No worries Mick, we'll get there in the end!

Chucking it down here so not exactly gearbox oil changing weather anyway!

Swapping those front wheels in the freezing cold wasn't too much fun either.

Plan to get some "house jobs" progressed today instead.

Found some other gearbox oil about half the price:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384728936210?
(20 litres, 75w80, GL4, Synthetic, £37.99 Inc 2 day postage)
So that's looking like the new plan.

Still a good while before the Autodoc stuff lands ( recently communicated as "successfully passed to Evri" which creates a mental image of arms outstretched desperately trying to hand the parcel to a delivery chap without dropping it!!) So hopefully the weather can calm down in the interim.

Business as usual for the C5
20 thermalite / Toplite blocks (and 10 "Coursing bricks" of the same material

308 has it's new tyres (and wheels) on the back. Plus a fifth alloy under the back in place of the silly space saver (the steel rim of which is quite remarkably rusty!)

The wire rope winch system, and that the spare hangs from a tiny wire rope seems in good order, but rather strange knowing it's just dangling under there!

It seems to be due a regen (fan running when shutting off after a short trip) and will take it for a longer run tomorrow. Have to say I'm quite surprised, it runs like crap in it's keen to start a regen condition! Almost like a misfire at times, stuttering almost!? Very odd.

The 206 (earlier 16v DV6 but again lumbered with a DPF) did run noticibly different when in the same state, but nothing like as hobbled as the 308 is!

Must be a 308 thing matt, my cc will have the fan on a couple of times and the risk of block filter on dash , also a lot of vacumme in the tank which is heard when you open the fuel cap , but 20 min run at a steady 50,60mph it regens then alls ok, i had my way id drop the dpf , striaght pipe it , delete the lot with pp2000 , then fail its mot lol

The main answer to that Husky is profiteering!! Markups in shops where my daughter lives in Germany are 10-15%, here its more like 85-120%!! :?
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

A cruise up the M6 has allowed a regen and normal behaviour of the 308 has resumed.
Picture with an atmospheric sky whilst out on location:
P.s. new wheels and tyres on the back, looking much better

We planned on a walk/ride in the pram when we got there but..
Spoiler: show
Too relaxed (note 2 out of 3 are actually just pretending)

It's no flying machine, but lively enough. It picks up better in 6th at 65mph than you'd think it would in the lower gears (not very rev happy) so am hoping a good service including new air filter (part of the Autodoc haul) will improve that a touch. Also hoping for noticeable improvement when the new gearbox oil goes in too. (Refund on the non-arriving tub received through eBay, as has another 20 litres from a different supplier)

Seems there another job looming:

C5 heater became ineffective last week. Thought it might be paranoia but convinced myself I could hear an occasional gurgle. Checked yesterday, header tank = empty!

No obvious puddles etc but will have to dig where that is leaking soon enough! Topped up with fresh coolant.

(Heater back to normal today so that's good news at least. I've read of little electric flap motors failing etc, so wasn't looking forward to that!)

Incidentally, it's a horrible rusty brown muck in the 308 header tank so that'll get swapped soon. Suspect topped up with water a good few times and no longer enough inhibitor. Will seek out a coolant flush I think.
Heater on that seems ok, so hopefully no long term effects.

P.s. agree about the "Rip Off Britain" problem. It's why I tolerate Autodoc's slow delivery, they're often close to half the price of Euro Car Parts, Carparts4less, GSF and Halfords Trade.

Hopefully if all shop elsewhere, eventually "market forces" or whatever will begin to bite and others will try to get a bit more competitive
