I know what you mean Jim but seems to be two types and all follow a similar design, all the spindly versions look about the same!

EG here are some Gates branded versions of the same thing:

And here's the Gates branded other type:

I think between these two there is a difference in the horizontal measurement between centerline of the threaded hole and center line of bush.

I'm sure Up N Down talked about a vertical difference as I'm sure he knocked up some spacers which obviously wouldn't change anything in the horizontal!

The above 2 threaded holes both being the nearest one in each case. Not sure about the other one to be honest

Anyway that car is not the focus of today, instead it's on with the coupe.

Rear left caliper very crusty and definitely did not want to let go of the outer pad suggesting sliders seized solid. Disk retaining screws didn't put up a fight and the handbrake shoes seem to be cooperative too

Would it not be best to post you VIN and get the correct part from Marc? You can then use that part number to find an equivalent.

I decided to just do the whole arms too on mine, which came with these bushes. These are the parts I used (though I have not fitted the passenger side yet  ):

Drivers side £58.17

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275849562813

Passenger side £73.17

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314790591193

I have no idea why, but I could not find the passenger version anywhere near as cheaply as I found the drivers side model.

So, a bit of a look at the rust

Speaking of wheel arch, this bubbling paint had to be scraped off. Needed to understand how bad it was.

I think you may have to go one step beyond the T cut there Matt! :-D

A random scratch deep through the underseal halfway up the inner arch has initiated some rust, just a touch. No idea how that got damaged as hidden behind the plastic liner.

I gave the old caliper bleed nipple a simultaneous tap tap tap with a hammer and applied a little torque with a open-ended 7 millimeter spanner. Much to my surprise it did unscrew rather than shear off.
Brake hose Union seems much less cooperative and is on the verge of rounding even with 11 millimeter crows foot.

Think I need to source a bunch of new fittings before attacking that with the big mole grips.

Yes, definitely!

The edge of the arch doesn't look too bad what can be seen currently has only been revealed by hand with the end of a flat screwdriver. Treatment for that and the bit near the anti-roll bar planned as follows:

Clean up with power file to good metal,
Treat with phosphoric acid,
(Wipe down with water to neutralize, then dry)
Brush apply Zinc-182 to "all the small things"
Spoiler: show
yes there's a joke in there somewhere :)
Top coat brush applied black paint. Steven the wheel arch edge may get this for the moment, sanded back and the correct colour to follow in the spring
