Got around to finishing the trailer plug off today. Will test it next week (and then some additional heat shrink over the cable entry point to discourage the weather getting in hopefully) can't easily test yet as the big trailer took most of yesterday to fill / chop / fill some more / chop again.
Little trailer put into use again today, collected the mixer from my in-laws.

Sadly, despite all functioning when tested, indicators were fine but neither tail light came on when requested.
No time to test or dig into what's wrong, used magnetic trailer light set instead.

Annoying.

But backdrop of good news that the Coupe is back in its wheels and drivable again! Not sure if placebo effect but think steering is lighter! (with the other Coupe's considerably less rotten struts fitted) I don't remember changing the other Coupe's strut top bearings so perhaps more an indication of the corrosion leading to poor performance.

607 strut unpacked, looks "ok" in terms of upper spring cup - about the same as the "borrowed" set from the 2000 Coupe.

Will get a replacement 7mm Allen key bit, then hopefully can get disassembling soon. Need a second strut top / complete strut. Another 607 one "best offer" just over £50 is backstop at present.

Set of impact Allen bits bought:
US Pro brand
US Pro brand
Coupe filled up again:
667 miles covered,
67.02 litres = 14.76 gallons
45.2 MPG

Again, happy with that :) still not driving particularly economically! Air con not on continuously but lots of blasts of it to help with the demisting.

The "wrong" front springs seem fine, may defer the swap to the new ones until the weather improves next year in the, err, spring time! :rofl2:

Oh yes absolutely. I like to grumble and moan about aspects of South Ribble's policies/rules for the recycling centres (trailer appointment nonsense, reduced opening times so less chance of going when it's lovely and quiet) but in reality I realise I'm lucky the lack of limitations that's proved well in my favour!

Well and truly burnt that bridge! I had the audacity to show a bit of resourcefulness: I once unhitched my trailer and wheeled it right up against the far end of the garden waste skip - (plenty of room for others to access rest of the skip and) intention was minimise the amount dropped when carrying stuff armful at a time from trailer to skip.
How dare I !?! Stern telling off and trailer then moved back to the rear of the car. Much mess and took nearly as long to sweep up as to empty the trailer!

Rules are rules Matt! Dare you ever break them... My last two tip visits have resulted in a full identity check and proof I'd booked my slot...

All that just to dump rubbish

The "US Pro" Allen bits put to use, the damper nut came undone without incident, thankfully. Very tight though, much tighter than other side.

Quite how much compression required to remove from strut Vs the uncompressed length!

Which leaves me with a conundrum:

I think there's another set of compressors in the garage somewhere, will add a bit of tension then hopefully release the current set!
