"2012W35" = perhaps 2012, week 35. So barely 11 years use our of that! :-D

It might prove interesting to run that through a tape reader and see if it comes up with 42? :-D

2000 Coupe, front passenger side (left) strut, again not bad. Quick wire brush and slap some black on for now.

Back to the 2002 Hdi Coupe. This is what MOT man would see, at best:
Looks ok (yes spring rusty)

2002 strut:

And now, with 30 seconds of wire brush by hand.

Frightening!

And then rain stopped play.

And then the rain stopped but a load of darkness arrived strangely earlier than usual...

Sorry Matt, we can't keep having these factual inaccuracies, the darkness didn't come, the daylight went leaving nothing behind!! :-D

Gosh! That auxiliary belt had seen better days. Amazed it could still transmit power!

Well yes, good point, an absence of daylight, and inky black nothingness all over the place! :-D

Yes me too! No squealing or other clues as to its condition, beyond the shiny glazed surface of the back of the belt. Must be good printing process Gates used as last "definitely old" belt I changed had worn as to be anonymous.

Obviously the solution to inky blackness is to introduce some nice bright colour(s),

This will do for now
Spoiler: show
cheers all!

I'll just take the old strut apart whilst I have it setup in the spring compressors, or maybe

Also seems the catalogue of 7mm Allen keys in my possession has just dropped off by 100%

Lots of 6mm and 8mm!

https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/laser-51 ... pc-las5137
Laser 5137, set of a long and short version in 3/8" drive

Eurocarparts seems to be cheapest at
£7.99
Can't find any applicable discount codes - seems alien concept to actually just go there and pay the actual listed price!?! :-D
Supposedly in stock but not until 1:30 today at Preston. Not stuck at moment (as this is the HDi strut that I'll rebuild later) so might defer a faff about driving to Preston today.

Dodging the weather, "no rain till 10pm" said forecast, Nope, here before 10AM instead!
