Ok, possible breakthrough/alternatively search approach:

607 shares same strut bearing, so had a trawl on
https://catalogs.ssg.asia/peugeot/?lang ... BwbGllcj09
And 503147 is listed above as spring cup to suit the 607 too!

And the 607 was made for longer (hence hopefully less rusty versions are being broken for spares!)

As much as I hate the idea of you causing misery to that sad looking "Prince Harry" spare coupe... I think that would be my choice for a part... being as it would be free

Thoroughly (twist knot angle grinder) wire brushed strut. Coated in phosphoric acid

Wondering if this bump stop has been shortened, or this is generally how they tend to fall apart??
Just looks rather neat!

Other than some powdered foam dust, no sign of missing bit. Dust shield intact

Second hand Peugeot 607 complete strut = best offer accepted, just paid (eBay)

Interestingly, despite being 2 years older, the other Coupe's drivers side spring looks very much healthier. Awkward to see, but may take the strut(s) off and, if as good as the spring, borrow the top seat (the 607 one could end up in that Coupe instead)

(9) Noise Deadening Mounting Part: 503364 (NFP)
(Again, thanks to Marc!!)

As you can see, there's a little bit of overlap between the two.

Spring: different (does not have "pigtail' at bottom of smaller diameter, unlike the 406)
Damper: different (to suit spring)

But the bit I need "front suspension rest cup" confusingly number 9 on the 406 diagram and number 6 on the 607 diagram = 503147 = common to both!

I only picked up on this as my new strut top bearings (equivalents not genuine, but would be 503554) mentions both 406 and 607 on the packet! :)

Ah that's better... what a nice post for me to read... :-D

Appreciation for the beauty of the C5...

I'm expecting you'll be caressing conditioner into the leather, and buffing swirls from the paintwork this weekend.

I wouldn't count on buffed paintwork and leather massaging just yet!

That rusty chuck of suspension needs to be swapped for something solid.
Other side: same job (state of upper spring carrier as yet unknown, expect similar obviously)
That knackered auxiliary belt needs to be swapped.

Both the above are required ahead of Tuesday morning when my holiday is over.

Helping a friend nice house tomorrow (reckons he'll not need the C5 boot space, we'll see how fast the Transit Luton fills up :) )

.... And currently awake at 4 in the morning as my littlest is full of a cold  poor little chap
