Maybe it's already begun?

Or perhaps you're gaining an understanding of your own C5's capabilities from the comfort of your own home, and indeed with no wear and tear to your own car

So, turns out the HDi Coupe's auxiliary belt is A LOT more tired than it appears from above!
6pk 1738 says the parts Asia site. For info: micro Vee belt, 6pk = 6 grooves on the pulleys. 1738 = length of the belt in millimetres. Love a nice logical system!
Online sellers seem to offer 1740 and 1750.
2mm difference easily taken up by the tensioner I'm sure, not sure about 12mm....
...which I'm only bothered about as it turns I have a 1750 new belt here "in stock" (incorrectly bought at some point) might try it and see what happens.
Amazed how expensive the belts seem to be now! I'm sure I've paid say £5 - £7 or so previously, Eurocarparts is asking £23 for example!?!?

I don't think this wheel arch line there has been off recently or not so by anyone who cared anyway!?
This is the reason I'm piddling about in the cold today. Front springs advisory for corrosion last year

Wait until you see how much a C5 MkI or Facelift can hold (they have a bit more space, and you can (occasionally) hear an echo in there!).

Well, spoilt for choice with that part number, but only if I'm after a bloody dashboard panel for a Series 2 Land Rover! Hate it when you end up coincidentally landing on another maker's number. "Can't see the wood for the trees"
Lots of enticing images on Google search but all coming back out of stock/unavailable.
No results on Autodoc.
Hmm, somewhat torpedoes the car at present.

So there is finally a post in your thread about caring for your cars instead of abusing them... and then it ends with you not able to find the part...
You had be to the brink of utter joy, and then back to despair in a few posts...

Hmmm... I can't find one either. Everywhere seems "out of stock".
You might have to source a used one, if you can find a decent one?

Oh I'm always caring for them really, most folks consider the type of cars I like as disposable, end of life, etc etc. The just don't get a life of Riley here either!
Second hand complete struts (from BB autos well known in the Coupe forum) is about best I've found so far. Still fairly tatty looking at the top (would strip down and derust then repaint as best I could) Can't find new or pristine anywhere.

Obviously the temptation just to cannibalise the other Coupe is present too.
For a simple stamped steel component it has quite a lot going on. Specific shape to receive the spring, inside diameter just right to house the strut top bearing. Quite thick (about 2mm steel looking at the inside where bearing sits, as this area relatively corrosion free)
