Also so the the blue and green wires on the left of existing tail light feed go to empty positions on socket of new L3 connector so again this is not going to work.

Cannot find any other similar sockets in the indicated area! Puzzling!

Officially you blob the relays anywhere at all with sticky foam pads, but instead of that relays will be bolted down to these three new M4 rivet nuts. Bit of black paint to stave off any corrosion as is through to inside of the bumper so could be damp.

Good work Matt, sticky foam pads have a very short life in my experience... You can't beat mounting relays properly...

It didn't seem a good solution, and I have the rivet nuts and tool so easily done. None of these though, so will have 7 spare brackets for future use!

For 70p a go it didn't seem worth time effort to make my own.

Also, have read a post from Aspire Helen on disintegration of the foam (in that case on heater ductwork inside the dash. But there's my first instance of the gungy mess on my X7.

Inside boot trim. Scraped off and some black foam draught strip instead.

But all back together and fortunately everything still seems to work (as two wires in the black and red plug don't go where they used to as described above). Still no sign of this other connection. Might email the supplier and see if is V6 HDi specific or not.

That looks like some foam I've found in my AX Matt but at 33 years old I'm happy to accept it's well past its design life but for it to go like that so soon in a relatively new car is abysmal...

Agree Jim, doesn't seem very robust to be melting at 13 years old, but given the steering rack steel quality issues, think the Citroen cost engineers must have different "acceptable life" targets than I!!

Quick Google as to what's behind the degradation:
Below suggests several potential factors, of which damp and enclosed space, and photo sensitivity as most likely credible drivers for failure:
https://us.tchweb.com/blogs/foam-fabric ... foams#gref

Camera case manufacturer says "change every 5 years, as a precaution"
https://blog.pelleys.com/the-foam-in-my ... to-slurry/

Suffice to say I'll not be renewing the foam draught strip 5 yearly! :rofl2:

C5 new potential fault:

Front suspension, think right hand side: brake gently, then when go to set off = slight clonk. Repeatable as described.

Pretty subtle, but definitely something not right.

Will get it up in the air at the weekend and see what I can see. Thoughts: wishbone bushes, particularly the rear "P" bush that Citroen don't supply separately (but loads of aftermarket do!) And/or the outer round bush on the hub carrier.

Drop links are near new. Don't think track rod ends, both those tend to be clunk on every bump, this is more slack that braking Vs accelerating moves the play from one end of its travel to the other.

Though also appreciate is a multitude of arms, bearings and bushes on front suspension that are contenders too.

Those little clonks can be a right 'mare to fix Matt... Here's hoping you soon land on the culprit :)

Relay brackets arrived yesterday afternoon, might have a "dinner time tinker" and get them in place (or looking at the weather currently, maybe not!)

A good post here on X7 towbar wiring
viewtopic.php?t=62825

Interesting to see another aftermarket towbar wiring that is slightly bodged into an existing intended towbar wiring relay's feed.

I have seen the same high current two pin connector and the other foam wrapped 8? Pin connector with it, no sign of the connector pictured in wiring harness instructions.

Not emailed their support as yet.

Interesting.

This photo from the good info Marc provided on the thread linked (edit: linked ON the link above, it's actually from here: viewtopic.php?t=62025&start=45) above, seems to show my missing connector, here:
Image
Same connection also found by atr:
atr wrote: 05 Apr 2019, 09:50 Well, the plot thickens. after the quest for the connector, I've finally started to install & connect the Ryder Smart Logic, I've discovered today two things: first, there is some sort of "box" made of plastic, on the left hand side. my assumption that it's the "house" for the BSR, if installed. picture of it attached. the second thing that I've found, is another loom with a connector. my second assumption - I hope that Marc will check it - is that is the loom that connects to the BSR. as you can see, there is a thick white/pinkish wire that carries a steady +12V (even with the ignition off) that I guess is for the fridge. there are two other wrapped wires that I guess are the CANBUS that delivers the data to BSR, telling it which lamp to turn on.
In my case, it's no longer relevant, since I'm installing the Ryder, but I hope it might help someone in the future.

Had a good luck, but could not find that! Will need to dig again it seems.

Just had a thought, wonder if it is down below in the spare wheel well rather than in the rear arch void.

Not in the wheel well. Remaining elusive.

Brackets too wide for relay slots so file (and hammer they are very soft steel!) And now all mounted securely

Wondered why the reversing lights are quite so terrible.

Lens on one of the seven light lenses looks more than a little odd!

The red bit is falling/ melting TOWARDS the bulb!

Yellow line is face of lenses, where the red bit should sit parallel (based on the less melted other side)

Oh dear, looks like I may have caught it early:

viewtopic.php?t=55290

Will investigate some LED versions and try to minimize the amount of rearward travel in the interim!
