Played a game of "can you fit a trailer (that you're pretty confident isn't in a fit state just to hitch up and tow home) in the back of a trailer the same size, at the same time as the cement mixer you were actually in need of??" To which the answer was yes! Just!

Think the wheels and few other bits were in the boot in fairness.

Lights were definitely very much corroded to death and changed back then, didn't take a photo of the grotty plug it seems.

Less than 4 years = 3 years and ten days then!

I'm not sure why, but there's something quite satisfying about "hauling stuff yourself" for me anyway, depending on what your local tip rules are, I'd wholeheartedly recommend a trailer, just fits sooo much stuff in there!

I have to agree there Matt, I miss my trailer which I gave up when I lost my workshop. However as for looking the part we had a chap back in my BT days who towed his trailer tent with his Lotus 7!! Sounds bizarre, but when you think about it, it was a great way to attend events that warranted an overnight stay and he did love his hill climbs!!

Sorry, wasn't very clear was I - all apart from the couple of shots of garden hedge clippings/ brown wheelie bin were stuff in the trailer coming home.

Actually, correction, first image trailer load of wood in a garage was raw materials for building a chunky fence = taken to Lincolnshire for my brother in law's back garden.

The logs are oak, off to my dad's (wood turning raw materials, in a couple of years time when dried out)

Can picture ringing up Westfalia / whoever towbar supplier and having to explain repeatedly No the 7 isn't going on the trailer, it's pulling one!!

(Cleaning the suspension pump motor of any LDS + brush's carbon mixture. Very handy link with pictures mentioned by Marc elsewhere. Ruthless linked here for my own easy reference!):)

I had a trailer for years and it was so useful... Sadly, I have absolutely nowhere to store one these days

For me, Polly, with a bit of protection in her cargo area, will shift a huge amount.. Plus, our local tip is a bit snotty about trailers...

2.2 HDi Coupe
- work out why 12v lighter socket isn't working and get it going again. Dodgy looking wiring spotted! DONE

Like a simple fix! Duff fuse, now working again.

For future reference:
Fuse layout diagram in the 406 (saloon) Haynes manual = UPSIDE DOWN Vs the Coupe fuse box!
Not obvious with the tiny numbers. Zoomed in phone camera picture to the rescue!

What a wonderful thread Matt, I have really enjoyed reading it from start to the current day. Not only is your writing style very enjoyable to read; but I envy your mechanical abilities!
