:rofl2:

So I did the following:
Delivery of the vehicle,
Accessory,
External CD player
Installing of external CD player.

Chugged through various instructions. Had an error message. Then had installation of CD player complete.

Back to fault finding, CD player listed and shows two faults.
Cleared said faults.

Standard accurate tests.

Got it to eject the CD via diagbox.
Put CD back in again.

CD still not listed on the radio's choice of inputs.
Dashboard eject button still not working.

Hmm

From that point on it has remained at "External CD player: communication error"

Various faults (logs up shortly) cleared. Some related to GPS antenna and the keyless start (which it confused me by calling it "hands-free starting" !!) remain, both of which I'm aware of.

This is turning into a saga!! Wouldn't be so bad if it was a proper job like doing a head gasket or replacing the suspension :-D Seems a lot of grief to play a CD when you have the phone anyway :rofl2:

 Ahh but back in the olden days, vinyl car players were a thing ;) I remember them. They looked like an overgrown car CD player that would take a 45rpm single through a slot and play it... There was never one - as far as I know - that would play an LP.

The tracking weight had to be high and the wear on the record was significant.

Last one I saw working was in a Zeypher 6...

Thanks Jim, I've done my usual "find a problem that does not need fixing" (i.e. cannot play CD in the blue 308)

And then double it! (I.e. also adding the cd changer to the grey 308)

I'll get there in the end. Probably!

Still need to find a link cable (I e. Another 6752QY ) then can attack both challenges. Finding a 308 (with a cd changer) being broken for spares seems most likely route to finding one at present.

I've read about the in car record players but don't think I've seen one in the flesh as yet

Realised I've got a bit behind logging my fuel economy:

All blue 308 tank fill ups:
26/1/2025
495 miles,
43.03 litres, 1427/.7 pence per litre, £61.40 = 9.47 gallons
52.3 MPG

29/1/2025
260 miles (early fill up as a long drive to Birmingham and back the next day, to wanted a full tank)
21.01 litres, same ppl, £29.98 = 4.62 gallons
56.3 MPG

11/2/2025
528 miles includes the Birmingham trip. Absolutely bloody awful traffic, about half of each journey, both ways!
£59.93, 42.00 litres= 9.24 gallons
57.1 MPG

Very happy with those :)

Previous discussion on the "wheel arch liner with vent" has today moved beyond the procrastination phase! I have been umming and ahhhing about this genuine £28.75 arch grille:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/387636207335

Vs

Autodoc aftermarket arch liner with integral, rather crude slots, grille:
From Autodoc site
From Autodoc site
Which today's special offer has dropped it to £31.69 (plus p&p unless I bought other stuff)
https://m.autodoc.co.uk/prasco/14466067

Vs

A complete second hand arch and grille.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/306068105737
This was up for £60. I put in a slightly cheeky Best Offer of £45 and to my surprise, rather than telling me to get lost; coming back with a counter offer; or (personally infuriating seller behaviour that I've come across before) just don't respond again all - instead it's been accepted.
Again, I'm pleased with that.

I'm not sure on the Blue 308, it's not that noticeable when it's doing it, I'll look in the logged data in diagbox next time I'm plugged in. I might do the "heated mirror LED mod" then I have more awareness of that it's up to :)

The grey 308 however runs pretty terrible, almost like a misfire whenever it wants a regen but you are "about town" driving at the time. Runs lovely rest of the time so it's very noticeable!
Again I'll get it to tell me the interval at next plug in session.
