No description but pretty clear video for the blue 308 radio removal

Currently looking at this YouTube video. Which seems to omit details like only unscrewing one screw on the right and there's a matching one on left!

Fortunately I then remembered Mark has kindly emailed me a set of instructions too.

Special tool number one created: shown in action on the new trim piece

Raw materials kindly provided by Bosch as part of their wiper blade range (formerly a wiper blade obviously!)

That was awkward!

The instructions are for the left hand drive which must be easier as only the steering column shroud is in the way of slot to access the fixing nearest to the wheel.

Other side is visible once the glove box is open - piece of cake!

So, given it has now, much to my surprise! become a free CD drive, it's time for a spot of open heart surgery....

Other side

It sits fairly unconvincingly on top of the motor. Would need a blob of glue to remain there which doesn't seem right.

So, it sits above the CD and the motor pushes disk up against it. A shaped spring steel feature gets hold of it.

Can't get better access without moving a very stuck down ribbon cable, so "open heart" now switched to keyhole! Think we have a fix so reassembly next

Drive is back together, no rattling and no spare bits!

Not yet, but promising -

Drive plugged in, a short whirrring noise (note: whirrring not scraping/grinding/graunching! Taking that as good news!!)

But not yet recognised by the car. Diagbox laptop on charge (and I am inside for "refuelling too!) so on with that next
