Another good question Jim, no idea!
A semi educated guess tells me that the chances are that back in the annals of time Clarion subcontracted the writing of the software to Microsoft as a reputable software company. As a result Microsoft would more than likely have retained the IP rights to the software and that notice would be a contractual obligation on Clarion!! :-D
That's very possible Mick :) I have a Clarion CD Changer here somewhere.... I'll have a look at it next time I'm in the attic and see if it carries a similar notice..

Oh dear, not looking straightforward for grey 308 CD changer plan.

Current head unit details as follows:
Sticker
Sticker
Connections on rear.
Connections on rear.
Those pins nearest my finger are not used. However , the cable supplied with CD changer is not the same type or pin spacing on its connector.

I'll double check on the parts thread but currently expect likelihood of Continental head unit and Pioneer CD changer playing nicely: slim to low.

Just briefly pausing and pretending I'd succeeded for a moment, there is also one small "cosmetic" hurdle to overcome

One step ahead of me again Mick! :rofl2:

---------------------------------------

So...

... In a bold and reckless move, I've had an idea and tried it.

The cable I have bought for the other 308 has the right connectors and the right pins in those connectors used (you can see 4 empty pin locations in the rear of the head unit photo above. The same four are empty in said cable) so
I've docked the small (new) connector in the radio's existing empty spot in its wiring plug
I've docked the small (new) connector in the radio's existing empty spot in its wiring plug
And switched it on!

I have had a whirrring noise and pushing "LOAD" makes the lights flash:
Flashing
Flashing
Radio does not recognise it's new friend. New device does not appear up for ingesting a CD.

Diagbox session next in the cards I think, but probably next weekend task.

Further progress!

Push load, then push a number = then it's ready to take a CD, and does so! (I.e. it's me not understanding how to drive this, err, drive!)

Still not recognised by the head unit though, getting nearer /! Slightly giddy! :rofl2:

I'm not sure why the new wire has been provided the capability to dock into the storage tray but seemingly it does!? :rofl2:
Oh well that can look after it till next weekend.

My current one looks like this:

Solid panel.

But as per the parts diagram, it should look like this!

I recently asked ( viewtopic.php?p=829378#p829378 )
Sorry, a follow on question for you:

Is part 18 (the grille bit) listed with it's own discreet part number ?
And Marc kindly replied:
Hi Matt, no, it is not listed for your vehicle as was never included for this engine specification. It was only provided for Petrol engines and some 1.5 Diesels, some DV6 diesels and a DW10FC diesel. So not available or not listed against your VIN.

For other models there are 2 parts listed, but both say right side:

9814788380
9819977580

I can't tell you what the differences are though.
Ta da! It is just the grille on its own!

9814788380 = grille
eBay search of 9814788380 and 9819977580 gave me the answer!

Curiosity got the better of me,
Google images gives the other answer!

9819977580 = solid, blanking piece (i.e. what I've got now!)
Karen seems to have the answer

Yes, the vent is on the front half of the arch liner, as the intercooler is sat in front of it :-D

I'll take a picture at some point soon
