Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

I'll seek some of that out. Working almost too well is plenty good enough for me!Rp0thejester wrote: 20 Aug 2023, 19:14 I have seen TFR at work and it works superbly well almost to well!

Just make sure you dilute it

Quick summary of jobs to do (making a To Do whilst sat in the train)
C5
- swap alternator, suspected as current source (as well as a source of current. But not to be confused with a currant sauce) of a droning noise. Also check tensioner's pulley and hopefully take advantage of claimed 3 year warranty if needed.
- FRIP bearings complete with grease nipples. Hopefully deal with that clunk at last.
- decide if investing in a new MFD screen / investigate the fan cooled thing Aspirehelen pointed me to.
- Towbar wiring still incomplete, need to make a plan for the "missing" wiring connector.
2.2 HDi Coupe
- insure and tax and get driving it at last. Hastings Direct scared off by the modifications, so not just a swap from the C5 policy unfortunately.
- front rusty springs to swap. New KYB items from eBay. Also have strut top bearings and front drop links to go on at same time.
- thought it needed an outer CV boot but having given the grubby boot a clean up, no sign of a failing (though beginning to perish a touch, not actually split) perhaps a job for another day.
- rack boot is similarly grubby will give that a clean too. New outer track rod ends ready to go with that job as tracking will need doing so I like to swap these first so (1) I know they aren't seized solid (2) less chance of them giving up shortly afterwards.
- re-oil and refit the K&N panel filter once it's dried out, during the week.
- timing belt kit to fit.
- might swap the old C5 (regreased and cleaned up by me during my starting issues, but then replaced with new) in place if the Coupe's current rusty one that I'll guess is original.
- work out why 12v lighter socket isn't working and get it going again. Dodgy looking wiring spotted!
- replace front brake Flexi hoses (mentioned as rusty ferrules on last MOT)

206 1.6 HDi
- investigate odd behaviour, appeared to be braking on its own for no reason. ABS warning (but since disappeared) fault codes only as listed previously. Will need to try and sort this as car isn't usable like this, obviously fault free when I took it for a test run up the bypass and back.
- turbo actuator adjustment/calibration as it's not as it should be (like this since engine rebuild just never got around to it)
- repaint the new sill the correct red, more "globally" decide what to do about it's paint / the car in general as the paint really lets it down.
2.0 Coupe
- reinstate an engine and sell it. Undecided if I continue to make the later EW10A fit, or new oil seals, head off relap the valves for its original EW10J4
Realistically the poor thing is probably only a doaner to anyone other than a sentimental so and so like me.
306 HDi
- loads.

206 = back once again with the ill behaviour
I know it's not a 206+ thought it was an mux. Enter the VIN, next screen offers diag tool or pp2000. The last time I went for diag tool which then opens up PP 2000. However! This route gives vastly less options down heading straight to PP 2000, don't know why.
Straight to PP 2000 today, a raft of fault codes awaited me.

Symptoms described above but short version: driving along everything. Then, normal ABS fault on dash and car slowing down as though brakes applied (foot on throttle pedal, not brakes!) Clears when restarted.
I took it for 3 test drives and of course it refuses to play up on demand!
However when forming global test it seems to trigger the MFD and dashboard instrument cluster to reveal all. PP2000 print screens follow:

Gosh, that's quite a crop of fault codes
Is this what I might have to look forward to with my new car?

The tank presence sensor I'm also aware of too, the others I need to get my head around.

Business as usual
And slightly more usual:
Broken recycling bin lid has provided a temporary number plate, will get a proper one made up soon-

Wonder why the trailer lights weren't working (just snipped the wires from here, for some reason they wouldn't unscrew either!)
Did you ever see such a miserable oxidized bunch of conductors?
Wonder what I can do (other than shorten the cable to the point it'd be no use, so need complete replacement) to get any spangly copper on show

Don't be daft Matt, you've clearly not got enough metal around the rust!!!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Oh thanks Mick you have just ruined my night!! I'm now trying to think of what we used at Duxford to free up rusty parts after being in the ground for 60 years!!!! And no, it wasn't WD-40

I'm trying to remember if this plug was newly installed when I got the trailer (less than 4 years ago) - the lights were knackered and replaced, just can recall if the plug got swapped at the same time.
