Thanks Jim!

I wondered what they'd think about the rear disks as to my critical eyes they are a little corroded around the outer edge of the braking surface. But they think they're fine = that'll do for me!

Braking and (electronic) handbrake performance both fine, so I might have a go with a flap disk (or brave the electronic handbrake releasing procedure via diagbox and just swap them) come the summer.

It's due a service so I have messing about in the cold to do soon regardless! :-D

£38 which I believe is cheap for an MOT nowadays (last MOT, grey 308, somewhere else locally (where I normally get my (Black Circles) tyres fitted) I was stung for the full £54)

On that price point Matt I pay £45 at the super modern test centre I use which, considering most things are dearer in the south east, I think is a fair price given the comfort of the waiting rooms complete with coffee machine and TV. :-D

You're like me Matt, more critical than the MoT tester!

£40 for me and it has the best waiting room on the planet: my own house ;)

I drop mine off when the garage opens, leave it with them and walk (or run) home... Then I wait for the phone call...

Ah, I used the time to walk to the local builders' merchant (a tube of white silicone for the bathroom and tap washers for dripping outside tap) - the garage's own suggestion was the local butty van. Also displaying a feat of quite incredible willpower I managed not to succumb to a sausage butty :rofl2: definitely tempted!

It is definitely near enough to walk (or run) home from the MOT station: 0.7 miles each way. The bits and bobs from the merchant was a good time-consuming activity.

I can't argue about either use of the waiting time but I prefer sitting in the room with a cup of coffee awaiting my turn and then going out on the viewing gallery to chat with the tester while he/she is doing the test. Over the years I have been down in the pit to have issues pointed out despite H&S rules and always enjoy watching the process.

One year on the C5 a brake light had failed and the tester suggested to me that he had known them fix themselves while he was answering a call of nature! I took the hint and replaced the bulb from my emergency kit in the boot in a few minutes while he was away and then down in the pit. Oddly he retested the lights when he emerged and all was well :-D

Now that's a proper MoT tester :)

Many years back, I found myself in a similar situation when my 205GTi was a bit excessive on emissions when initially tested; A little tweak of the AFM whilst the tester was otherwise occupied with another aspect of the test did the trick :)

You made good use of your time Matt although I can fully see the merit in your approach Mick ;)

I'd have found the sausage butty very hard/impossible to resist!
