Ahh the old 43---

Try living in one with 4 other blokes for 10 days....you really only understand how bad you smell when you get home and see other people turn green :)
Errrr, no thanks! Only a quick go at it so I wasn't shown round the bedrooms, bathrooms or kitchen/diner :rofl2:
I enjoyed it best with my head sticking out the top, with the lid on, tearing about looking through that letterbox box slot like periscope was very odd!

I had a go in an armoured tracked BMP 'tank' once. Yoke steering and manual gearbox. The gearbox gate looked like a drunk Russian had thrown some numbers at the hull, and where those numbers fell, that would be the gearbox layout. First gear was 'up there', second was 'somewhere over there', third gear had its own agenda, forth was only for the brave, and so it went on. 'twas good fun though :)

Edit:
I hadn't remembered I'd got these photos, but here's one of the gearbox gate - 1 through 5, with reverse down left. The gear linkages were joined with specially worn out pivots and pins #-o

And here's one of the dashboard with yoke steering...

Sounds just like any fwd BMC gearbox from the 60s and 70s... I had an Austin 1300 with a gearchange just like that

I've given to believe the early Austin Maxi with the cable change was even 'better' in this respect

First failure of a previously hot stable repaired component:

308 SW front left wheel arch liner big cracks.

However good news it's failed in a complete the different direction to the previous repair!!

I thought the Staples would benefit from being fully encapsulated. Last time I did this with the hot glue gun (the light colour stuff splodged everywhere on the previous repair) but this time I just smoothed over the black liner plastic with the soldering iron

You'll find black cable ties make a perfect filler for that type of 'plastic soldering' Matt. I use them all the time where melted plastic is a requirement!! :-D

Yes, don't think I've thrown a cable tie offcut away recently!

Since buying a thousand extra staples, I've had the problem of where to store... a thousand staples! Annoyingly the hot stapler machine has only 4 tiny boxes for staple storage.

So, attacked with a pair of end snips, cut out the features intended to hold the (rubber!) side cutters and snap off knife supplied with the kit.

Aah!! You have a different kit to me Matt, my 1000 extra staples fit inside the box as it is still in their supplied zip bag!! :-D

Yes I went to the trouble of taking pictures to then realise I was potentially offering a solution to a problem you didn't necessarily have! :-D

There are many that do seem to have that problem.
