Fuse holder has been a bit molten at some point!
Bit of heat shrink at least getting rid of the bare "terminals" appear to be err, adapted ring terminals!

Towbar wiring got weirder and weirder!
All back together and...
... No tail lights.
Investigated the new LED lights trailer plug Unsurprisingly, the Chinese have done it rather differently!!
Screw terminals= nah, just solder on directly!
Seven core cable = nah, there's no fog light, couple the tail lights together (both off the left feed) = make do with cheaper 5 core!
But all ok.
So, tested the output from car with the meter.
Left tail terminal never gets 12v. Right tail terminal does (but not utilised in the LED set)
Retraced my steps and pulled off the neatly-ish glued into place trailer bypass relay.
This is in its untouched state.
Standard wiring convention is:
1 Yellow = left indicator
2 blue = rear fog
3 white = earth (doesn't pass through relay, hence skipped)
4 Green = right indicator
5 brown = right tail
6 red = brake lights ( or "Stops" ! )
7 black = left tail
R = reversing lamps, other permanent feeds etc = all associated with "Twin electrics" when a second grey 7 pin plug runs the other functions. Caravans etc need these.
On this image you'll see both 5 and 7 are labelled up to feed from same terminal on the relay.
You'll also see the above is not how it was set up!
Red in "R", Black in "6", Brown on its own in "5+7"
Moved the cables to where they were supposed to be = all is well!
New rear rubber seal on the car's trailer socket, plus heat shrink too. Grommet on that oval hole.
Boot power outlet wiring reinstated,
Various bits of surface rust ground back and spot of chassis black (under trim so not visible)
All back together

No answer on the parts thread at moment, but a spot of product research in the interim.MattBLancs wrote: ↑12 Aug 2024, 20:33 Put a query up on the parts thread:

Grey 308 SW completed the airport run very well today, trailer in tow:
Run down had a load of stop start traffic, about 20 minutes to travel about a mile. Run back clear, 58 mph cruise control most of the way. Filled up night before and trip reset. Indicated economy= 60 mpg (and 28 mph average for a 95% motorway trip) = fantastic!-

Yes, they are just reflectors at present (as not wired up) but I put them on as an aid to help reversing: the little trailer is a pain to reverse, particularly when had the C4 in that by the time you can see it in the side mirrors you are already too close to jack knife to do anything about it!
Ultimately I found jacking the seat higher than I normally have it gives me just a touch of visibility when reversing. Plus a load more practice towing since I had the C4.

Short draw bar makes it super responsive and a pain as a result. An idle idea to buy some 50x50x2.5 box section and swap to a longer draw bar remains an idea only at present!

Coming along a treat matt, also very useful if anyone else has thr same sort of socket to wire up themselfs. Ive got a nagging 308 abs, esp, osf sensor so im checking that later. Keep up a great thread

Information kindly provided by Marc,
As it's powerflex (same as the other 308) I've gone for the same stuff I used on the Grey one:GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑17 Aug 2024, 13:42 Hi Matt - oops, sorry about that, must have missed your post.
You have a reservoir tank, not a pouch system, and require Powerflex additive.
Top up 1 litre minimum, official capacity is 1.4L, but shows actual is 2.0l.
Item (16) here: part number is: 1610115580.
