That really is a very good deal for what you get Matt :D So often these days, the cost of stuff is amazing - both in this case where it seems incredibly low and sometimes in the other direction where things seem to be eye-wateringly expensive for no good reason...

It's all about the numbers I think, 2 examples:

- the only folks who don't have knackered trailer lights are: those who don't own a trailer and Mick who's managed to do it properly= lots of demand for trailer lights, so big factories are churning them out and competing on cost. So readily available and unbelievably cheap.

- C5 steering rack pipes. The only folks interested in a few cheap bits of formed aluminium tubing are the C5 owners who've got a leak, so nobody's making them, hen's teeth = flipping expensive!

So, a nice long run in the Blue 308 this morning

Then this afternoon, had chance for an initial code reading session. I've never plugged it in during my time with it, no warning messages on dashboard, so all clear then, yes?

Nope! Loads of codes. Sat nav / GPS related to be expected but loads of others!

To assume makes an ass of you and me!

New trailer lights around this morning plug them in and oh dear! Answer: Trailer wiring is okay it's the flipping 308 wiring that is the fault!

Used 308 to tow the big trailer recently and was working fine so I didn't bother checking that!

Also there's a design flaw with these pre-wired lights in that the two tail lights a couple together by a piece of wire and are intended to mount flush. which would need the wiring to pass through whatever it's fastened to....

... Which obviously needs a lamp cluster-sized hole in it for that to happen!?!

As a somewhat too late to the party comment Matt, it occurred to me that you have, I believe, 3 trailers and more than one tow car. Would it not be simpler to have a single trailer board to slot in the required number plate for the car in use and then hang on designated hooks on the back of whichever trailer you are using? Just a thought!! :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Ha, ha, yes at present I've three. Rather daft and the plan really is to jettison at least one trailer.

Big one is very useful for 8'x4' stuff. At present has no cover so make do with tarpaulin and bungee ropes

Two small ones are also useful, 2x 400kg of sand cement ballast keeps me going when concreting - when I built a "little potting shed / garden tools storage" err, "outbuilding" a few years ago

Removed the duct tape and sticky electrical tape at this point so you aren't seeing the full beauty of what was the completed job!

Presume we've never used this rear socket. Equally the two bare connectors pushed into the original connector also haven't managed to short out on the body work so that's good news!!
