Purely for interest, I asked about the use of biodegradable ties and was told they are made to go with biodegradable waste sacks for the catering industry. It enables the large scale storing of organic waste which can then be deposited in landfill without further interference cutting costs and ensuring the environment is able to fully decompose the waste!! :)

So my plan is I'm going to put clips on, they're jubilee type so there should be enough room for a small ratchet to do the job, where there's a way there's a squashed hand between the subframe and steering rack :rofl2:
When access is tricky for jubilee clips Husky it can be helpful to use a 6/7mm socket on a long 1/4" extension with the electric drill or rattle gun on the end. Then you just position the clip and whiz it up tight before it gets the chance to move. :-D

Great thinking mick , thats something i can do. As Matt said about the pipe connecting the two boots together thats what my set up is so that swayed me to go the metal clip route rather than cable tie , if it means getting under the car then i guess i will have to try or, remove battery & trays to get a way through it that way .
Husky. :? Thinking outside of the box is better than sitting in a dark one.

Good shout on quarter inch drive 7mm socket and long extension. I've a properly long 1/4" one - maybe 300mm (a foot!) and it's surprising quite how often a long slender thing like that is a good way to avoid skinned knuckles!

Compostable bin bags full of compostable organic waste tied with compostable cable ties sound like just the job for making compost rather than chucking in landfill, but at least they'll degrade rather than sit around forever!

Oh, forgot to mention:

Grey 308 SW = MASSIVE "twang" type spring noises over heavy bumps since it's rear spring change, so something not right at all there.

Up in the air over the weekend hopefully and try and figure out what I've done wrong!?!

(But blue 308 SW driveshafts replacement is first on the list)

To be clear, above in jest - I think there's a good few jobs where cable ties are a good permanent fix. Equally I think there's folks throwing cable ties into very, very unsuitable tasks...

That's just terrifying!

I never knew about the biodegradable ones... I can see a use for those in another area of my life. Likewise in that area - for attaching temporary direction signs to convenient trees and poles - we employ re-usable cable ties that have an extended tab on the ratchet mechanism which allows it to be released.

Not sure you've thought that through Jim! Unless your signs are biodegradeable too? :)

Actually, they are Mick ;) We found a long-lost one a while back and it had decomposed very considerably. We believe slugs and snails find them to be quite a delicacy 😋

(10) Driveshaft Self-Locking Nut, Torque: 28,5 da.Nm

As for Gearbox oil, you're supposed to replace the amount removed, but if unsure, drain and refill. Quantities here depending on operation:

Quantity of oil to fill after draining: 2,1 ± 0,1 litres.
Quantity of oil to fill after an overhaul: 2,2 ± 0,1 litres.

Oil quality: 75W80.

Cabin Filter:

(7) Cabin Filter, 3 Options:
OEM Original Carbon Filter (Particles & Gas), part: 9804163480, £50.96
Cheaper Carbon Filter (Particles & Gas), part: 1612920480, £21.07
Anti Allergenic (High Performance Carbon, part: 1616959280, £63.65

On a LHD this on on the right side, so can't see it being different for a RHD. I believe you need to remove driver side centre console trim (remove centre console side trim cap to reveal screw). You'll need to find the cover as below and remove this to extract and refit the 2 filters. There are 2 plastic clips (tabs) to release the cover.

Right hand side driveshaft nut is not coming off.

I can keep going but it seems fairly clear with a 600 mm breaker bar plus extra length of gas pipe, sure wasn't done to 285 newton meters!

It's also a 36 mm nut, and some how a split pin wrangled in to the hole in it. Who knows what bodgery is going on here!!
