Example of 5008
Example of 207 SW in the hard to find spec: 112 HDi diesel with six speed. Even better in posh Allure spec. Annoyingly only one like this for sale and other end of the country in Norwich.
Interestingly this is 2014 but Euro 5, thought was implemented by then (more research needed!)Example of 207 SW in the hard to find spec: 112 HDi diesel with six speed. Even better in posh Allure spec. Annoyingly only one like this for sale and other end of the country in Norwich.

I think it must have been as well, and we're not alone: advert disappeared now so am guessing it's been snapped up.Stickyfinger wrote: 30 Jun 2024, 12:31Now that is a very good car for the moneyMattBLancs wrote: 28 Jun 2024, 21:38 ... 207 SW in the hard to find spec: 112 HDi diesel with six speed.
In 5008 research, a few thoughts:
- blooming loads of them automatic. Very much not my cup of tea.
- Allure spec in 207 SW (and similar in my wife's 308 SW) gets you nice part leather seats, slightly bucket type and rather nice. In 5008 the Allure spec seats look rather ordinary frankly. Odd.
- nobody seems to have bought the 2.0 HDi in manual form either.
- seems a fair price jump for Euro 6 Vs Euro 5 spec models. Though generally a wide variation of prices generally. One locally at garage 1/4 mile away is just shy of ten grand. Lots at around 2k and everywhere in between.
I thought you might enjoy some of the highlights of the unintended comedy thrown in with many Facebook marketplace adverts.
First, I think this is some sort of abstract poem:

Next this makes me chuckle!
I took "Relatively miles for the age" as clearly missing the key word "low".

The indoor trim and A pillar comestics do look a lot like a C8/807 interior

If it's the EGS-type then very much so... I was a passenger in a C4 Picasso fitted with one one on Saturday... I was not impressedMattBLancs wrote: 30 Jun 2024, 19:29 - blooming loads of them automatic. Very much not my cup of tea.

Think the 1.6 HDi is EGS, actuated manual thing. The 2.0 HDi is conventional torque converter auto.
I can't be doing with automatics at all. I know I could have paddles to allow me to do a bit of "please can I have a different gear?" Request to the gearbox ECU but I'd rather just be changing gear myself.

So would I Matt, but my left ankle simply cannot cope with continual clutch work when in creepy crawly traffic, which is what we suffer a lot down here in the southeast. So Auto it has to be and there are excellent, good, bad and diabolical options around. My Subaru is in the former class while the MX3 only makes good!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

I love a proper autobox... The HP20 in the V6 Xantias I owned was a thing of pure joy
Given a choice between a manual and a proper auto, I'll go for the latter every time...

I looked at a 207 SW, but they're really quite small - I'm just about 6ft, but with the driver's seat at my preferred position it was pretty much hard up against the rear seat.
MK1 5008 is basically the same as the Mk 1 C4 Picasso (although it does without the fixed centre steering wheel). Euro 6 came in 2014 onwards, although there are a variety of E5 and E6 cars around between 2014 and 2016. Whilst no ball of fire, the 1.6 in either 115 BHP E5 or 120 BHP E6 guise, is perfectly adequate, even fully loaded I can't say I've found it lacking; I imagine if you do a lot of towing heavy stuff the 2.0 would be preferred. Watch out for Allure spec ones, they have a really odd tyre size (something like 215/45/18) that is not widely available, especially if you want all season or winter tyres. e-HDi ones throw injectors for fun, and Blue HDi ones have trouble with the AdBlue system which can cost £££ to fix. Cambelts went down to 3/4" wide so are prone to early failure, and really need to be changed early.

Mick - if your leg can't take it, then that's fair enough, we've to make do with what we got. I've had plenty of stop start trips (ah, were the M6 to always flow freely! An impossible dream!) and clutch work doesn't bother me as yet. Had a very heavy clutch 306 and did 100,000 miles on the heavy pedal.
My dad is suffering with his knees now, so if I've picked up anything with the genetics then maybe I'll warm to manuals as I get older!
Good feedback on both 207 and 5008 thanks RichardW. I'm 5' 10" so middlie-ish height wise. Probably ok for me but perhaps rear car child seat a touch tight behind me. Both forward facing seats now, so much less space consuming than when rear facing.
Not sure if 3 isofix or just 2 in the rear. Boys get on well and like sitting side by side in my wife's 308 (surprised the C5 only has 2 isofix in the rear, despite 3x 3 point belts)
On the 207 front, I'm not sure if the 207 lasted long enough to be any Euro 6 engined variants (the later 6 speed 112 bhp diesel is Euro 5 says Parker's)
Abandoning hope of a Euro 6 207, it would then seem if I wanted the more powerful diesel option, I should also abandon the desire for a six speed and get a 110bhp 5 speed instead. Most prevalent in 207 SW "Outdoor" form!
Which we have already discussed it's, err, "interesting" body kit earlier!! viewtopic.php?p=784579&hilit=Outdoor#p784579

Whew that took a while for me to catch up on!
What a shame to read the C5 is misbehaving so badly, I do hope you manage to figure out why. Mine has soared past 170,000 miles and still going strong, so these can definitely last if taken care of.
Your skills are simply astonishing to me, particularly when you proposed fitting new bearings in an alternator... I never knew that was a thing

Glad to hear yours is doing well!
I think mine is eminently fixable, is more a finding the time conundrum as much as anything...
Particularly if you spend a good amount of time doing stuff like this:
viewtopic.php?p=804175#p804175
Other than needing a clutch in the future, I'm sure the drivetrain is good for your 170,000 and then the same again! It's the ancillary bits that put the wind up me and moreover the lack of parts available meaning any of those failures would turn into a "reverse engineering" and create a new one project.
There's 3 others cars sat in the back garden (406 Coupe X2 and 306) already awaiting me not messing about with the house project, all fitted around my normal office job.
I need to be "sen-see-bull" apparently, some strange concept about not biting off more than can chew. Doesn't sound like me, really!!
