A quick read of the C5 fault codes (and reset) yesterday evening.

Quick dump of the results will have a think when get chance. As there was codes related to airflow sensor and air inlet temperature sensor, I unplugged and gave a good wiggle to the wiring of the MAF. C5 been for usual 80 mile round trip to the office, ok this morning and a bit of a flutter at part throttle from about halfway home. Oh, one new and interesting development, just set off this morning and front left tyre pressure too low on the dash. Stopped in a layby and...

... all four tires are fine. Technology hmm....

Update: technology falsely accused of being rubbish!

Swapping tyres about a while back (new ones on the back) means the tyre reported as "front left" is intact rear right!

Or at least that tyre had, checked with a gauge tonight, just 1.85 bar rather than the recommended 2.4 to 2.8 bar (unloaded Vs loaded figures). Didn't really look under par to be honest. If anything front right looked worse (2.15 Vs recommended 2.4 bar) but guess that is as much a function of big diesel engine sat at the front!

Other front 2.2 and other rear 2.6. topped up to the loaded figures (given my typical usage!! :-D )

Ah yes, that kind of TPMS you have to tell when you swap things around...

I have the same and find it works quite well... At least no clever valve stems needed when it's a speed-based system.

C5 fill up:

673 miles covered,
65.74 litres = 14.48 gallons (149.9 PPL, £98.54)
46.5 MPG

Not bad for a big, 15 year old, 152,000 miles since new car that alternates between 70 mph (clear) / 15-30 mph stops start (typical, for at least some of each motorway trip!) fast use and short slow speed dragging a heavy bootfull to the tip usage. (And indeed with 4 under inflated tyres too it!)

Yes, the sensor in the valves here. I remember someone had bought an "exciter" needed to tell it what's what (and where) in conjunction with DiagBox, but don't think they'd had a play at what you actually do. A job for another day.

Oh, speaking of tyres: spare 8 inch trailer tyre reassembly completed last weekend. Tyre was on the rim for a couple of weeks, but had not managed to get it to seat. Put a ratchet strap around the perimeter and that did the trick. Inflated to about 3 bar.

In the garage last night and walked past said wheel: flat again!

So, sod it, I've bought a couple of inner tubes, that'll be next strategy.

Tube installed and spare available once again :)

A week off, so usual weekend activities during the week,
Another 14 bucketfulls gone!
Another 14 bucketfulls gone!
The amount of hardcore and rubble that comes out of our garden is incredible! Full bricks, half bricks, fist sized chunks of concrete, small bits of broken glass, all sorts! Buckets topped up with soil as we've a bit of a change in levels to try and smooth out.

Also filled small trailer with garden clippings and privet roots, ready for a slot booked on Sunday morning

Dodging the rain so far, plenty of dark, heavy looking clouds though!

Oh and had the 308 SW in six seater mode yesterday - middle row can be three or a more spread out two seats.
Third row head and leg room rather snug but worked well :-D

Ha ha, that's great, thanks!

Most are "commons" I think, unnamed things.

Here's some that do have an identity for you:

The named brick gets around a bit. Got one from Withnell, found round here but a bit out of bounds so just a photo, and not incorporated into any of the garden walls. I did do a smalltrivia investigation on the trivia investigation thread when I discovered that Brick. Lost in the archives like yesterday's chip wrappers but linked to here

Brocross has pics of a variety of Withnell bricks, and this bit of info on Withnell https://www.brocross.com/Bricks/Penmorf ... 1912%20Ltd.
Now a landfill site, situated near Chorley in Lancashire. Photos by David Kitching.

The Withnell Brick and Terra Cotta Company Ltd at Abbey Village, Withnell, Chorley, Lancs, seems to have been established in 1898 by Frederick Parke. Parke died in 1909 having previously retired from the business which was was adjudged bankrupt in January 1911 and in July 1911 the whole of the works was offered at auction as a going concern. The sale particulars described the works as having nine rectangular and four circular downdraught kilns, five muffled kilns and three chimneys. The steam power and electric lighting equipment was installed new in 1898 at the beginning of the current lease. This was a large operation with its own railway sidings and steam shunting locomotive. The business was taken over by the Withnell Brick & Terra Cotta Co. 1912 Ltd. Barrett's Directory of Blackburn & Burnley 1931. The company manufactured all manner of bricks, chimney pots and terra cotta ornamentation. ...

Fantastic! If that brick was made in Chorley then its only travelled about 5 miles to get here then! (Sunny Leyland)

The link on the brick site unfortunately gives a "404 Not found", I wondered if the mentioned landfill site near Chorley is what I'd have called "Coppull Tip" as that's nearest similar thing "near Chorley" that I can think of. Not anything to go with Biffa as far as I'm aware though.

I'll try and have a dig on the Historic Scotland site (full of old maps) see if I can pick out a brickworks

Coppull Tip (actually listed as "Chorley" on the Lancashire County council site seemingly)

I note you're allowed to dispose of 5 tyres per household at that tip. They charge £6 per tyre to dispose of them at the tip down this way  :(
You don't know how lucky you are up there :-D
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(
