 Gosh, all this is reviving very unhappy memories of going out on a Tank Landing Craft into a choppy Med. one cool and breezy December day

We were sailing out to dispose of some classified equipment and were accompanied by the SBA Police who were disposing of illicit seized drugs...

I have never been so ill in all my life... I really thought it was the end and wished it was... Even terra-firma was like standing in a bowl of jelly...

I often wonder how the local fish enjoyed what the police threw overboard...

The environmentalists would now go bonkers at our ways of disposing of 'sensitive' equipment back in those halcyon days...

I wouldn't worry too much Jim, the frogmen from 'the other side' would have retrieved the equipment and had it back onshore and dry before you were ! :-D
I think 'we' pulled off a similar stunt when a Soviet plane ditched in a lake somewhere in Germany during the Cold War. It took our forces ages to hand over the wreck....... mainly because bits of it were being rushed back to the UK for investigation

There would have been very little for the 'other side' Bobins, I'd already been at with with sledge hammers and other tools of mass destruction!

Love what happened with the 'plane :) Just the job!

It actually happened. My memory is hazy, but I think the 'plane crashed in an area of a lake that was technically West Berlin (British Sector ?), whilst the rest of the lake was East Germany. IIRC, (some of ?) the crew went down with the 'plane - hence the not unreasonable desire to return the wreck to the Sovs.
I probably read about it in T. Geraghty's - BRIXMIS book :-k

Just a reminder, I'll be booking the table for Thursday's lunch on Monday and so far it is a table for 3. Any more takers? :-D

As there have been no more takers for Thursday's lunch meet, we are changing the venue to the Crown and Sceptre at Briden's Camp nr Water End, Hemel Hempstead, a venue we have visited multiple times which serves nicer food than the King Charles III in our opinion. So if that change encourages anyone else please confirm tonight or before noon tomorrow when I shall call the landlord and book our table! :-D

Sorry, no. Way beyond my driving abilities so on this occasion, as they say in the 'Den, 'I'm out'...

50/50 for me at the moment as I'm running on reduced power so may not be up to it. Will see how the next few days go. :)

It does seem rather a long way to sit in a pub on the A4 near Maidenhead, when you all live miles away it has to be said.

You'd be better off with The Pink and Lily near Saunderton Mick, if you wanted to venture this way...

The reason for the venue change was to get nearer to bobins to facilitate the transfer of Mike's recent purchase to Jim. Robin came up to the Hemel area last time so it is only right for us to head down south. The actual venue is open to choice, I suggested The Shire Horse having had a very good meal there with Bob a couple of weeks ago and it is relatively easy to access from the London Car park! :-D
