I had reason to look for a car battery online today and soon got very irritated by the false marketing that goes on. I entered "2016 (Car make and model) battery" into Bing (on my friends PC) and was immediately presented with the expected list of results. The first one was entitled "2016 (Car make and model) batteries" so I clicked on it. I went to the website where the first request was " Please enter the make and model you require!" GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Jim, I left Paul with a link to Tayna's website. That was where the £125 price came from!! :-D

I bet the courier companies must dread the pick ups from Tayna.

Yes, and they are exceedingly well packed too. The battery itself it is in a vacuum sealed bag to guard against leakage and then it's entombed in two more boxes, both lined with thick polystyrene. The size of the final parcel is around three times the size of the battery.

The upside is that they are very unlikely to be damaged in transit.

That's not a bad price at all Mick, given how much they must spend in packing materials! I've always found them very competitive and rapid to deliver too... I forget which courier they use now but one of the more reputable ones...

The last battery I bought online arrived upside down, a lot of the acid was slopping around in the bag, the supplier replaced without any hassle.

Excellent :)

Was that Tayna Eric? I once had cause to seek a replacement under their warranty and it was totally smooth and quibble-free...

All the ones I've received from them have had their vents securely plugged and with big notices all over to remove them before installing in the vehicle...

I can't remember who it was Jim have a feeling it was British something but it was for my C5 and that's long gone now. Tried to look up the invoice but I guess that went with the car in its history pack.

I read somewhere that these outrageous prices are put in to keep the advert going when there's actually no stock available to send out. There must be some reason that this is better than stopping the advert and then starting again but I don't know what it is.

If anyone is stupid enough to buy at the highly elevated price then there's enough profit for the seller to buy in from, well, just about anywhere to fulfil the order. Maybe even enough left over to hand deliver the product!

I'm surprised they don't get called out for price gouging. Coffee prices have been going up significantly like most things recently - and I did watch an interesting Youtube video about how Tesco are ripping people off with their Clubcard scheme, which I have long been aware of anyway.

Thankfully, we only shop for a few specific items there when necessary as we don't have a lot of choice.

I just use a cashback credit card for everything now and get a reasonable return at the end of the year when they pay it out, which is better than nothing.

Propaganda from the Germans, Lidl & Aldi, they learned how to do it from Dr Goebels .
I have a friend who believes it and won't have the prices doubted, I take her to Lidl where she generally spends about £80 at a time.
So I kept her receipts and compared them like for like goods with Tesco where I always shop (it's nearest) there was less than £1.00 difference, sometimes in favour of Lidl and sometimes in favour of Tesco.
Much of the TV adverting for Lidl and Aldi compares brand name goods at the competition with own label stuff in their own stores.
Top that off with the fact that to Tesco is a round trip of six miles and to Lidl a round trip of eighteen miles. :?

But without a doubt those non 'Clubcard' prices are artificially inflated - I'm a bit sad like that as I check on my mobile occasionally just to confirm what I already knew.

I prefer Lidl and Aldi on a lot of things as I prefer the actual products having lived in Germany for many years.
