No, we're definitely not :-D As it's my (ex - as in retired) profession I can confirm that in ever so many ways

Talking of radio masts we had a video night at my local radio club last week and one of the videos was this:

Speaking of masts and aerials, I spotted this rather fine amateur HF array during my bike ride today :D

It's multi-band and rotatable...

And when not in use as an aerial it can be used to dry the washing

And, when it is in use, it might be able to cook a few sausages and other BBQ foodstuffs!

 It would need an awful lot of charcoal James - the photos doesn't really show how big it is... It's massive :)

Good job it's in a rural area with no near neighbours!

A friend of mine was also into amateur radio. He was at one rally where another operator had a very powerful setup. After a while he noticed his signal seemed to be degraded. He spent some time trying to find out what was wrong with his setup, but it wasn't until he went outside that he found out WHAT the problem was. Sausages! Somebody had pushed a load of sausages over the aerial elements, and his long range, high power transmissions did a reasonable job of cooking them!

As a bit of a coincidence after Newsnight last night, this film was on BBC2 about the legal case against DuPont
