I think you get the idea that Organised Events require permission and that 12 or less vehicles is easier to make comply without strict official oversight.

If the events are completely on Private Grounds with no Public Access it gets a lot easier but Liability Insurance could still be required - especially if we head into the next band of events.

I have tried to use the word Vehicle. A vehicle can be just that - a car, a motor bike, a bicycle, even a wheelchair could be considered a vehicle. So bear that in mind if you want to be inclusive.

There really isn't a limit to the length any event can be. 20 ft or 20 miles. It is still an event.

My Mum has a recipe for Mexican Bean Pot. It has the advantage that you can let it simmer for a long time without it needing attention (very useful when you are handling a narrowboat, as it is not always possible to monitor what you are cooking).

Mexican Bean Pot

Starting ingredients.

2 tins of kidney beans.
2 tins chopped tomatoes
1 medium onion
4 medium carrots
2 cloves crushed garlic (more if you like).
1 dessertspoon hot paprika
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon Winter Savoury (If you cannot get Winter Savoury Marjoram or Oregano will do, but barely. The German name for Winter Savoury is 'Bean Herb', and it makes even cheap baked beans taste good).

To add later.
Half teaspoon chilli powder (full one if you prefer).
1 seeded, cored and chopped red pepper (prepare in the morning and leave in the fridge until needed).
1 dessertspoon Marmite
Salt and pepper
Parsley to garnish, if you are feeling posh.

Put the starting ingredients in a large pan and cook them slowly until the carrots are soft. Either leave to simmer on the slow part of the range, or (if the oven is big enough) transfer to an oven proof dish and leave to cook slowly. About half an hour before you are planning to eat add the last ingredients (other than the parsley, you pop that on at the last minute).

This can be eaten the next day, frozen, wrapped in tortillas, or whatever you like. Mums' preference was hot wholemeal bread rolls and herb butter.

Herb Butter. When you have the time and fresh herbs, mash the herbs into butter (not margarine or those fake buttery spreads), and pack the mixture into ice cube trays, and freeze. To remove them dip the base of the tray into hot water for a moment. To store them wrap them in cling film, but do not pack them unwrapped in a container as they will stick together.

I would substitute Henderson's Relish for Marmite, but yum otherwise.

FCF is most definitely not predictable in it's content, but none the worse for that.

Going to more Blue Book bits later. Rugby beckons.

You can add minced beef to it, should you so desire.

In my case it would be Lamb or Buffalo mince - lamb if only for me, buffalo if for anyone else.
The Buffalo Mince we get is very lean and very flavourful.

Food looks good!

I do like the sound of a Regularity Trial :) That takes a lot of skill and practice to get it right. I've done a bit of run pacing in the past and it's not as easy as it might sound.

A Treasure Hunt is appealing too. Back in the mists of time our Amateur Radio Club used to put on radio treasure hunts where using a car and suitable radio kit we'd have to locate a number of hidden portable radio stations using Direction Finding techniques in a given time. They'd normally be hiding at points of interest in the locality... Points awarded for speed of finding and number found...

Interesting on the Rule of 12. If these activities take place on public roads do the police not have to be notified? I ask as we have to for cycling Time Trials irrespective of number of competitors and we must have their approval. We also have to advise a backup course in case we cannot race our first choice that week.
