This track has grown to classic status over the years and as such there are many varying versions both by the original artists and by others covering it. I have a vague feeling that it did make an appearance on the heardles a few weeks ago but not certain of that, however it definitely belongs in a list of classics that everyone should know: :-D

We haven't really had anything from the punk era of music. While I could have posted something from the Sex Pistols (and might still do so!) here's something more melodic from The Stranglers.

Soddit, here's the Sex Pistols with Pretty Vacant. A person should be at least aware of it even if they don't know it.

Glen Matlock had been fired from the band by the time of this video (allegedly because he said he liked The Beatles) and John Ritchie (AKA Sid Vicious) had been hired to pretend to play bass.

The lead guitar intro riff is a classic in anybody's book.

I'm aware of it now thanks Paul, I can make sure I'll never listen to it again!! Honestly not sure if anything from the punk era qualifies alongside most of the tracks already on this thread :o

Have we had anything from Pink Floyd yet? Well, this is certainly a classic even if we have,

Come to think of it, have we heard from The Who? Correct that now with possibly the first of their tracks, again not my favourite, that have gained classic status: :-D

I agree it should be definitely on the list that everyone should know, but I've always thought it's one of those songs that should be heard and not seen. Every performance of it like the video just looks so very, very uninspiring and tedious, yet hearing it on a nice country road is brilliant!
