Recently The Times had a truly stunning photograph of Corfe Castle. It was at night, with a thick layer of fog shrouding everything below the mount, but a totally clear sky, so you could see the stars. It must have been a very special camera, as it got everything in without the usual 'smearing' of the stars that shows a long exposure shot.

Thanks Peter I was hoping you would chip in. Cornwall's was number 1 selection at random from the 92 Historical Counties of The UK, and had its moment in the spotlight so its moved on through Leicestershire and now rests on your patch Dorset, again selected purely at random.

Do you have favourite places that you go to on a regular basis in Dorset, or have particular affection for, or memories of. Such things always add to the interest of the thread for me.

The idea of the thread to keep it fresh is to eventually cover all 92 counties, all selected at random, and give each one a "day" in the spotlight. So for now Dorset is in the chair.
