My question on Kirkcudbrightshire is what's the correct pronunciation? I do know but does anyone else?

In my own ignorance, I wouldnt pronounce it like any of the you tube examples. My approximate phonetic would be

Cur.....coo....bree....shire.

Yes Ayr Town Centre has slipped into my thinking as Ayrton Senna, from a trivia question in Cheers North East Magazine's the dirty dozen quiz.

The only golf hole on a championship course I can name is in Ayrshire, and that hole is the wonderfully named Postage stamp.

Even if you know nothing about Golf the name alone conjures up a very tricky hole, probably with a very small green.

If I recall right it first came to my attention in the open Tom Weiskopf won.
