Anyone got a Lexia for 2001 C5 Mk1?

Unread post by aspire_helen »

Hi
I have managed to do without a Lexia for 20 years and 185,000 miles, but now I need one to re-configure the VIN on a replacement radio/cd unit to get rid of that annoying security tone. Has anyone got a suitable Lexia in the Lincs/Notts/Leics area that they would help me out (for a fee of course) , or perhaps one for sale? Thanks

Thanks Mike. I just knew something like that must exist in such an organised forum. Being an old C5 its software requires 32bit diagnostics rather than the more common 64bit later systems. I will ask around. Thanks again.

If push comes to shove I have my old Lexia set-up that I used for both our 2003 Mk1 C5 and 2001 Xsara. It's loaded onto a Packard Bell laptop which, frankly, is pretty slow by today's standards. The battery only lasts about 15 - 20 minutes and I used to run it off a power supply for most of the time. It supposedly needs 20v but I had no problems running it off the 19v PSU borrowed from my Toshiba laptop. I do not have a spare PSU to go permanently with the Packard Bell though.

The PB has Windows XP installed to run the software and has an annoying habit of popping up a box asking to email some PSA server but clicking the X closes that nuisance. It won't read much that's produced after 2005 and, being Lexia, is Citroen only.

Thanks Paul
Can you let me know whether you offering "use" or "for sale"? I dont need it to work on any other vehicle. After 20years and 185,000 miles I dont want to invest in a full-cost Lexia system especially as the car may develop an "end of life" unrepairable/uneconomic fault any day!!! But I would consider a second hand working system.

NB - for other members......regarding my radio fault, I am investigating repairing the radio myself or sending the replacement unit to DND for them to code its EPROM with my car's VIN (negating the need for a Lexia). I am going to start a new post focusing on the radio rather than a Lexia request.

I may be in the Nottingham area just after Christmas. I do have a Lexia, and (on my first C5) I did manage to 'introduce' a new (to her) radio (the old one had a knackered volume control/on/off button). I did NOT need to send off the radio to get it coded to the C5.

Another option if you cant get to someone local is to send the radio to someone with Lexia & a mk 1 C5 & get them to program your VIN to the radio whist it’s plugged into their car then send the radio back to you & it will work straight away.
Option 2 would be to get a far superior aftermarket radio for not a lot of money as long as you dont mind losing the steering wheel remote controls.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. It's for sale although I hesitate to put a price on it. Maybe £20 plus any carriage? I had to get a more up to date version (Diagbox) for the cars we have now and this old one is sitting here doing nothing. I'm in Wirral if you or a friend/family is coming near. But if you're near I could do the pairing for you anyway!
