Re: New C5 owner with a few questions already
Hi thanks James, on the C6 i meant the centre 'tunnel' with the arced wooden form , the gearstick surround. Not the actual console! I've seen that and it looks a mess right enough. The C5 one is a bit better as it's had dials for temperatures but the 'telematics' panel below it is a buttonfest of ever you saw it
The 480 looks great! Years ago my Ex's dad had a black one that I occasionally got to drive short distances. Only fault I recall was the headlight motors going nuts
I'll post pics up some time but I'm preoccupied with the faults (the car hadn't earned its photo shoot yet )

Re: New C5 owner with a few questions already
I quickly checked the wipers this morning: ignition on, try wipers. they worked completely as normal. That's with the brand new RH motor and the suspect LH motor. I returned this afternoon and in passing did the same check - nothing. This time I looked at the fuse and the 30A fuse had been replaced by a 40A! I'd rather the fuse go than my new motor gets baked. Anyway is there a wiring diagram for the C5 X7 available? At this stage I'm just keen to see how it's arranged.

Pop your VIN up Graeme, I don't have it from looking -diagrams are vehicle-specific.

Re: New C5 owner with a few questions already
That's excellent Marc thanks. Tres complique.
I don't see any switches - that item 'PSF1' apparently the fuse box in the engine room and has a set of electro switches ( might be 4 relays) and fuse F12.
BSI1 does the commanding to the relays. I suppose the switchgear is considered a separate entity that inputs to the BSI1 ?
Anyway I have a used LH motor on its way now so I hope it works. I contacted every single ebay car breaker with a C5 (12) and every single one had sold the wiper motors! If it works out my plan is to open the PCB cover and clean the board, reseal it and then give the full housing a rubber paint coating save for the little finned part that looks like a heat sink. Also going to fit the rubber flap that was only on the RH motors as an extra...

Re: New C5 owner with a few questions already
Hiya Kenny, well I just fitted the replacement wiper motor and BSI reset and we have wipers! So it's not urgent at all. One I've changed the cam belt and kit and the LDS, the front bushings and treated the rust looking rear suspension pipes..... then I wouldn't mind giving it an interrogation...

Re: New C5 owner with a few questions already
With the wipers now working I finally got a chance to take the C5 out for a spin; out the city along the Mway to see how it goes. It goes very well indeed, I'm quite impressed. It might be an estate car but it has a real air of waftability verging on limo smoothness. To me anyway. It was a chance to see how/if everything works such as the cruise control. It works well and the auto wipers too. I find the suspension very good and I'm beginning to wonder if the spheres are actually getting bad after all - I might actually be wrong. The change from soft to sport springs can be felt but it's nothing like the black and white difference on Hydractive 2 and 1.. I feel that after clearing the fault code in the suspension that something seems different in its performance but could be my imagination.
Heated seats and the massage function all working and all movements too.
New minor problems! the auto folding mirrors work but the passenger side one seems to fold in too far and the outer end of the mirror scuffs past the door window forward seal which then causes it to catch when opening again - I find I have to help it when opening.
Other issue is the driver's door inner grab handle is loose/detached/broken at the top.... not sure if this'll be a fix or replace..
Otherwise I do like the C5 - especially the interior which reminds me a bit of my old XM SEi Turbo even if it doesn't have the same degree of storage spaces. It seems like an estate in the true Citroen estate tradition. Tomorrow is a day of work on the car so I'll see how far I get. Thanks for the help so far!

Re: New C5 owner with a few questions already
The door grab handle has a brittle plastic trim insert, so be wary of this. I had all mine off for rubbing down, priming and repainting / lacquering as the thin anodised soft plastic was peeling in places. I broke one or 2 plastic clips in the process as these are really tight. But underneath there are 2 screws (3) that hold the handle in place.

Re: New C5 owner with a few questions already
Ah, yes Marc mine has broken at the top point 3 in the diagram. I think it was already broken and I didn't realise and pulled it a bit high up. I think citroen spent their effort on crafting the beautiful sweep shape of the trim instead of a bit of the FEA on the structure ha

Re: New C5 owner with a few questions already
At the beginning of this year someone posted up a fix they'd done on their wiper motors. It involved re-gluing one of the magnets on the motor spindle. Might be worth a look.

Re: New C5 owner with a few questions already
Morning, yes I think I read that too. The trouble is that I looked at the part where the magnet is and couldn't see the magnet at all! Anyway it's all working now and I even have a spare LH motor.bobins wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 10:11 At the beginning of this year someone posted up a fix they'd done on their wiper motors.
