X7 satnav fault. Can I swap it for a used one?

This unit is the RT4 and RT5 system and is made by Magneti Marelli
Main differences between RT4 & RT5 - RT5 has Bluetooth Hands Free, faster Navigation calculation and on C4 & C4 Picasso only, USB ports and a High-Res screen.

Right, ignore my last post! This is Traffic Announcements. It can be extremely annoying on earlier systems, so...

With the car running and the system operational, press the TA / PTY button once to turn this OFF. The button is shown below as 'S' on the diagram:

Please tell me this has fixed the issue Peter.

Sorry Marc, already done that, makes no difference. I tried your dark button reset and it actually made it worse until I had acknowledged most of the bulletins, having done that the satnav will work for a few minutes then they start to come up again. :x

Ok, so next get to the navigation menu and look for this option in the manual:

TMC A.PNG
This is where you set the filters and turn on or off the message display and set the station for TMC and the filters. The third screen specifically.

This is the only other thing it can be - the filter that is currently set is probably too wide an area and is therefore bringing up messages from all over the area instead of on a per route basis. You should adjust the filter to limit the information to a small area around the vehicle. You should have several options to select the geographic filters.

You can also find the setting to turn off the message display.

You are a genius Marc. The problem was largely down to my stupidity in not knowing there was a traffic information menu. I had difficulty selecting it as every time I tried the traffic info covered it up, I kept deleting it until I had a long enough window to access it. I found amongst other things a couple of tick boxes regarding the storing of info, I unticked them and it all dissapeared. =D> :-D  The boxes have come back ticked again but no info.

If it does come back when the radio is used at least I know how to get rid of it now. Traffic info is turned off now - but it could of course get turned on again, especially if my grandchildren have been in there!

Thanks again Marc

Peter.N. wrote: 21 Nov 2021, 23:25 Only just recently, I have only had a working smartphone for about a week and my son, who got it for me suggested the same and he has installed Waze on it. The only problem is that the satnav display is also used by the radio and parking sensors among others and when the traffic info comes up it obscures everything.

I have found that if I delete all the bulletins or at least as many as I can the satnav will work for a few minutes before some more come up. I have tried the reset that Marc suggested but that doesn't seemed to have cured it but I will experiment some more.

Thanks for that, my son did show me but I have the memory span of a goldfish. Since I managed to clear all the traffic info the satnav is now working but I know that the phone is very good for showing congestion so I will see if I can get my wife to use it as I can't see it when driving.
