Thanks for checking. That is a relief. I can lift the pedal and it pops up on spring tension but pushing it and it pings to the floor again.

Pull the little rubber boot back on the slave cylinder & see if oil pours out.

Hard to reach down there. Noticed that the plastic pipe below in the picture was loose and looked like a clip missing? Caught it when grabbing boot and it just fell away opening right up.

Thanks all for the help. Ended up with the local specialist. Not the cheapest for parts but he replaced the slave and fixed a pipe that had lost its clip and popped off fluid bled and ready to go for around £360

But still a lot less than the £2k the job was estimated to be.
