To make up for my impishness Colin, I can say that we fitted complete heated seat elements in my mate's Vauxhall van using an after market kit and it wasn't difficult, just a fair bit of faffing with the seat cover clips and then a matter of sliding the elements into the seat between the cover and the sponge. They work very well and he has found them a real boon to his lower back pains (of which I'm probably one! :-D )

We used some similar to this which really were cheap as chips!! :-D

If you are not phased by tackling seat cushions I recommend heated seats too for the exact same comfort reasons. If you do go ahead it could be worth changing the seat foam for a new one.

James i think you are correct with Doo i also remember someone replacing the elements in the seats.
Mick i love your impishness, it was an open door for someone to have a bit of fun:)
Think the seats on this one are bonded being leather so maybe quite a bit of a faff. Was asking about the cost of new seat so to try and work out if a new seat would be cheaper than the labour costs etc to get the original one working

A complete seat will cost a fortune, and they only seem to have the various constituent parts.

Models are different and so are the types of heating pads and elements so these are not generic for info.

One afterthought I just had is that, by fitting the type we used, you have the choice of switching them together or independently. My mate chose the independent method so he can have just the seat back on or just the seat on or both according to his needs. Him being the OCD chap he is, it did involve fitting a new row of 4 toggle switches to his dash board and wiring accordingly but that is all a matter of personal preference. I have the heated seats in the Legacy which work very well but I would prefer to be able to put just the back on as I am not keen on warm seats!! :-D

Thanks for all the advice, i must admit the seat in my Lorry has a heated seat, 2 settings, toasty or roasty and i do find it helpful in preventing back ache etc.
Not managed to get a lexia session done yet, laptop charger is not working will have a replacement later this week.
However just an idle thought as both heating elements are not working on the drivers seat yet the lumbar support and massage buttons are is it possible that it could be a wiring issue.
Just thinking that as the switch for the heating is at the front of the seat could it become damaged/stretched by the constant moving of the seat ?
Guessing that the 3 buttons have separate plugs.
Will need to check power to the plug as a first check i guess

I think you'll find they've just worn from constant pressure applied and lifted Colin.

Ignoring the heated seat issue as it is comfy without it.
However going to ask here about the update for the head unit and map upgrades just to keep things tidy, happy if Admins want to split into a separate topic.

The details i have for the head unit taken from the set up screen :

Unit Reference 9667019180
CD Number 6321
SW Version. - unit RNEG2.05.C.11

Maps show as United Kingdom NAVTEQ 2009/2010 2ed

Can anyone point me in the right direction as if and how i can update the systems.

Have read stories about a certain update to the head unit that requires it to be taken to Citroen to be re booted.
