OK.. Ecu and bsi fitted.. And vroom vroom off she went...

So now to interrogate the bsi install..

However.. VERY ANNOYINGLY.. the milage has changed. Its gone from 138k to 183k.. That's fairly irritating.

But it runs.

STOP PRESS... I've just. Done actuator test. On slow speed fan.. And it bloody works...

Well jeesus crist.. The redundant switch is working too...

There you go.... :-D

I didn't mention earlier Paul - as I thought you knew that changing an instrument panel or BSI will increase the mileage to whichever is the higher of the units when connected up - it's to help prevent mileage fraud.

But glad you have everything working.

I was aware of speedo clocks. But not bsi.. Anyway.. That's gonna affect my price now.

How do you switch off the auto lights. I know you press and hold the end of the stalk but that's all. They are on and I want them off..

Road test tomorrow now. Need to reattach front bumper. But fancy that both the slow fan AND cruise control rududant switch now working.

Great news, Paul (other than the mileage bit!). I wonder if you could send off both ECUs (mark them as 'original' and 'replacement') and the instrument panel, and get them all set to the mileage in the 'original' ECU? Then you should get the better price (and the last MoT would also help to prove the mileage).

An update..

Road test. Cruise still didn't work.. So put computer back on it was absent in engine ecu.. So put it on.. Hey presto. Cruise works.. Big Tick..
Slow running fan works.. Second big tick..
No egr fault as yet.. Will take it out a bit more and see how that goes..

Slight problem. Very annoyingly the rear drivers window keeps coming down in steps.. Like someone is pressing the switch.. It comes up on the drivers switch.. Then it will do down. Sometimes it doesn't.. Even if the power switch to the rear door switches is active so rear switches don't work.. It still goes down randomly.

So.. Bottom line. I was chasing something that wasn't an issue. And was an engine ecu problem all along.

IIRC Paul, after battery disconnection (or presumably BSI monkeying), the driver's door one-touch window needs to relearn its travel. Done iirc by moving it down (or up?) in the small steps, after which it should have learned when to stop, and will operate smoothly. That's the XM system, anyway.
