I only provide parts from PSA - not aftermarket.

But if you want to save a few quid the link to the one from Eurocarecar.net is still available and that is OEM too.

Okay, I'm resurrecting this thread with an update. What a nightmare!

After the garage being unable to source a fuse box, I was put on to a mate of his who could apparently fix / replace the offending relay, but that ended up being a dead end.

So I decided to order the part myself from a Peugeot dealer. It was on their system for weeks, showing as 'on back order', only to find out today that Peugeot has discontinued the part :(

I contacted eurocarcare about the aftermarket one here:

https://www.eurocarcare.net/bulbs-fuses ... e-box.html

And was told in no uncertain terms that it's not a replacement for the 6500CG, and that the car might not even start with this fuse box installed, and that (before I ask) - no, they won't accept it back if it doesn't work :-D

So, I guess that unless I can find another company that does brand new replacements for the 6500CG, I have to run the risk of sourcing a secondhand one :(

Well that is incorrect, however, to be fair, they may not be aware that the original part has been replaced by PSA themselves and the one I linked to is the the correct one:

See for yourself. They don't provide your original one any longer, but do now supply one I linked to and that is what you will get if you go to Citroen / Peugeot.

There is no programming involved with these on this model, and they would not therefore be supplying these if they were not compatible.

Thanks, Marc.

So if I want to order the part from Peugeot, the part number is 6500AY now, rather than 6500CG? Alternatively, I could still go to eurocarcare and get the ECC9807028580?

No the other way round :-D : the original part was 6500AY, and now superseded with part 6500CG. Note the "RP" in front - which means Replacement Part. These are getting hard to find now - both original and replacement parts though. I'm sure that link at Eurocarcare.net has changed since I originally linked to it - as mysteriously the part number is no longer in the compatible list.... so ignore all those part numbers as they are NOT compatible. Don't know what happened there - maybe they re-checked it after you contacted them changed it .... :-k

Ah, I see. In that case, I guess I need a good Peugeot breakers yard - any recommendations? I'm still not 100% on whether it is the fuse box, but I feel a bit stuck really as the local specialist couldn't suggest anything else. It could be coincidence, but it does seem like we get more problems in the rain.

Yes, quite possible eurocarcare changed the listing. I note that the 407 is still listed as a car it will suit, but must be different models/revisions.

Yes, most definitely down to a different engine and vehicle options as to the differences, and therefore essential to get the either 6500AY or 6500CG where you can.

Well, I've ordered a secondhand unit from a breakers. Fingers crossed this fixes the issue otherwise I don't know what to do with the car!

I installed the secondhand fuse box this morning and took the car for a drive. It drove smoothly, changed gear smoothly, and didn't appear to have any loss in power. However, I got "depollution system faulty" on the display for the whole run #-o

At this point I'm pretty sure the car is cursed

Swine car!

Maybe just a coincidence - but I'm pretty sure the fuse box for sure won't have anything to do with the depollution warning - but it should of generated a fault code if you have that handy.

Yeah, I was hoping the fuse box wouldn't be the cause. The previous journey I did (prior to the fuse box swap) did start producing a small amount of smoke once I'd started cruising around 50 - 60 mph, so I thought that perhaps the regen had kicked in. This time there wasn't a hint of smoke from the back.

I'll borrow my mate's old laptop to get diagbox on the case.

An update - the car was driven yesterday and again this morning and with no hint of the engine management light, nor the message about the depollution system! Very smooth, feels great.

BUT (you know there's a 'but'), I did again experience the engine cutting out completely as per my other thread HERE. I'd driven to an appointment and the car had been parked for a couple of hours. Before heading back, I started the engine and idled for a few minutes while I used the phone - the engine suddenly stopped and the red oil can briefly flashed up (which I now believe is simply due to the engine not running). I waited a minute or so, started it up and idled again for a few minutes and it was okay. Then on my journey back, it cut out again at some traffic lights but when I started it again I managed to get home without much drama - just the very occasional flicker on the dash accompanied by the climate system briefly slowing its fans then picking up again.

This definitely feels like an electrical problem, and one that I had hoped the fuse box replacement would have fixed. What's interesting about these electrical gremlins (and I've had a few: wing mirrors flapping in and out; engine cranking but not starting, water in fuel filter symbol on the dash; cutting out completely), is that they all seem to have happened when it's been raining. Could be mere coincidence, I know. Another thing is that the climate system fogs up the windshield instantly when the car starts, like there's moisture in the system.
