The alarm can go off if you leave the windows open of course as the volumetric sensors can be triggered by air movement. If this is happening while the car is locked and happening a lot of the time, then it will very likely need a new alarm module. These have a battery backup, but like all rechargeable batteries, they have a finite life, so when they don't hold a charge they start tripping when the voltage drops enough - similar to when somebody cuts the supply.

I've replaced a few of these now and a new module has fixed the problem. A diagnostic may not help in this case as it is a temporary fault , but it will just keep logging the triggering.

So if the alarm keeps triggering even after deactivating the internal sensor protection with the button after switching the ignition off, then I would suggest the module needs replacing.
would you have the module part number that need replacing?

Check you owner manual for specific instructions - you can only disable the volumetric (internal movement detection) sensors using the alarm button. Usually this is when you have somebody in the car and lock it, to prevent the intrusion alert going off when they move about. Normally, when you switch off the ignition, press and hold the alarm button and the LED should glow solid.

Then exit and lock the vehicle as normal. This will prevent the internal sensors from functioning - but will re-enable the next time the car is locked.

On all the cars I've seen, if you lock your car using the key in one of the door lock barrels then this will simply lock the car without activating the volumetric sensor.

No idea what to do if you're unlucky enough to have keyless start on your car!

Yes it is similar with keyless entry Paul.

Just remove the emergency key from the fob, turn once to the rear in the driver's door to lock and again within 5 seconds to deadlock. Doing this will not activate the alarm.

Ok, here you go and thank you for your Forum donation. Any further parts requests, you can post them up on this thread:

C4GP Alarm.PNG

Item (5) is the Siren, Part: 9677756080 £135.95
Item (1) is the Alarm ECU Part: 1607747880 £266.59

I've included both items just in case. These are available new direct from Citroen VAT inclusive as above, and you now have the part numbers in case you want to source a second hand unit.

Bear in mind that the siren and the alarm ECU have parameters that may need configuring.

None really apart from fixing it. If you have Diagbox, are there any fault codes after doing a global test?
