I'll jump in straight away without nit picking my way through a series of steering wheels with guess number 1

Renault Fuego.

Upholstery slightly reminded me of a Renault 25

Very fair clue Mick surely enough to go on unless it turns out to be niche Japanese. One of your crop mentioned so far on the forum which I had never heard of was the Mazda Xedos 2.3 Miller.

It is indeed Neil, well done, a very nice car in every way except the usual Germanic harsh ride which let it down and resulted in a very short ownership, about 6 weeks if I remember correctly! Here are a couple more now superfluous clue pics and the final reveals:
