Now why the hell did I say Colonel?
He was recently made an honorary Colonel.

Because he is an honorary Colonel but his title will be Sir Captain Tom Moor.

Not quite true. He will be Captain Sir Tom Moore.

When you are knighted you actually get a new name. Usually it's just your original name with Sir at the front but you don't have to do this. For example, I think that Elton John is now Sir Elton John not Sir Reg Dwight.

Then, because your new name now includes the Sir, any professional titles then go in front of that.

Examples :
Professor Sir Bernard Lovell
General Sir Mike Jackson (actually General Sir Michael David Jackson)
Professor Sir David King
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

Because Colonel is an honorary title he has been given - not a commissioned rank.

I have some worrying news. According to the BBC Captain (Colonel) Sir Tom Moore is in hospital having tested positive for COVID-19. He also has pneumonia.

According to this article he has NOT received a COVID-19 vaccination because of the medication he is on for the pneumonia.

A quite incredible man, he certainly did more for queen and country than many others.

Utterly disgraceful the way the trolls are trying to demean his contributions. I can't fathom their reasoning.
