Re: Smokey Dispatch Mk2
Yes, sorry about that - the one I put up is for a DV6 variant with a particle filter - which you don't have on a 2007 model. It was just an illustrative point as there were a lot of variants to this engine and they don't cover all the nuances.
This one is yours - a much cut down version.

no worries, thanks for the pic anyway. I bought a Haynes manual but was really disappointed with the low quality, nothing like the manuals of the past.

Re: Smokey Dispatch Mk2
Any ideas why torque pro would be reading an increase in inlet manifold pressure while driving, shouldn't it be going down?
what are the likely causes?

Re: Smokey Dispatch Mk2
Because the air pressure inside the manifold is lower than the ambient air around the engine. So if you have a leak, then the manifold will actually be sucking additional air in from the location of the leak.
You may possibly hear a gurgling, sucking or swirling noise - but maybe not. So an examination of the air hoses or seals may reveal something....

Re: Smokey Dispatch Mk2
but would that cause the pressure to rise above ambient?
i'll pop out in a mo and double check, maybe take a little vid of the various reading on my tablet.

Re: Smokey Dispatch Mk2
The air pressure is normally lower in the manifold - lower than outside temp - so therefore if you have a leak somewhere, this will cause air to be drawn in and therefore will show the air pressure increasing as you have detected on your scanner. This in turn will affect the readings sent to the engine ECU and cause it to try and compensate.
Too much air in the cylinder means less fuel - so a weaker explosion and consequently the engine has to work harder to turn the crankshaft. This will result in sluggish performance and use more fuel.
So worth checking for leaks.

Re: Smokey Dispatch Mk2
just been out and recorded this.
as you can see, very little movement on the intake pressure.

Re: Smokey Dispatch Mk2
So the pressure doesn't seem to be rising then according to that.

Re: Smokey Dispatch Mk2
no, it was rising to 18psi while driving yesterday.
just been out and pulled the vacuum hose off the turbo and the arm is moving ok when reconnected
do those reading look ok? I was expecting the inlet pressure to drop more than that.

From PSA - they'll charge about £80-90 an hour.... so you may be able to wangle half an hour - or see if there is a member with a Lexia near you:
Here's the link to the member list with Lexia kits. Hopefully you won't need the commercial add-on module - but at the end of the list is a link to a Google Map. That will show member locations geographically for you. Contact them by private message - but be aware not all members are on line all the time, so may take a while to get a response.
