Sounds like a major issue. Nothing to be sorry about, but good luck with whatever you get next.

Is there or is there no problem? It's a construction mistake and there's no factory correction?

Mine was valued at £15k after I paid £28.5k five months ago…not that I’m challenging 😀

These have predictably gone the same way as all the traditionally big PSA execs, the last being the C6. Making them overly expensive and even limiting production runs has made no difference to depreciation it seems.

You'd really have to be Elon 'moneybags' Musk to buy one of these privately brand new (not on finance or PCP).

Lots of tech, but lots more to go wrong. A good used one is the way to go.

I bought mine at a similar price to yours. Now, due to many issues, especially with the back suspension and excessive tire wear where no one seems to have a solution to fix it, I decided to trade it in. The garage offered me €24k, which is a drop of €10k over two years. I'm very disappointed with DS, as I was a big fan of them previously.

so I shouldn't complain. It's shameful to spend so much on this car and end up with thousands lost. One of my friends suggested that I change the rear shocks. Parts may be costly, but labor would be cheap. I'll see if this helps to resolve the issue with swinging or tire wear. I'm thinking of going ahead with this and holding off on trading it in.

Would anyone know what the part number is or if there is any equivalent/replacement part available?"

We can help if you need an original genuine part number, part diagram or factory build sheet and can't already find the info you need on the Forum. For this service, we do ask for a membership upgrade for official parts data as we are in turn charged for this. It will cover you for future part number requests for up to 2 years, so excellent value.

If interested, links are below, then provide your vehicle's VIN in full, which will be masked automatically when you submit your post.

Thanks for your Forum Donation. If you have any future part number requests, just pop the request up in this thread:

Citroen, DS Automobiles and Peugeot Official Part Number Requests

So your DS7 would appear to already have variable damping suspension, so should already be adjusting itself to the road conditions. The front struts are programmed to 'Suspension Law 3', so one assumes there are other laws that may be configured via the dealerships diagnostic system. You have a suspension ECU that handles all this, so maybe worth checking whether there's anything the dealer can do to change the law and alter it.

Although the Hyrdractive C5 is a completely different system with self-levelling that the DS system doesn't have, you still only got the best ride with a load of weight in the rear. It never skipped the road at all, but was noticeably better with weight in the rear.

Maybe it's the same with your unladen DS7. Try borrowing the neighbours for a while in the rear and go for a spin with a boot load of cast iron radiators and see if it still jumps.

But in reality, another member was asking about DS shocks in general and there are no alternatives at present as these are specially designed for the vehicle. As you can see form the price, they're not exactly cheap because of this.

Front Shocks

(1) Front Variable Suspension Shock Absorber, Left, part: 9827150780, £298.37
Front Variable Suspension Shock Rear ShcAbsorber, Right, part: 9827150680, £298.37

Rear Shocks

(1) Rear Variable Suspension Damper, part: 9827152080, £270.61 each

The vehicle is just over 5 years old now, so would normally be due for a check / change if necessary. Not sure what mileage you have on the vehicle, but they can last 50-100k - but that really depends on the road conditions - if you live anywhere like me in the rural countryside of Wales, where they've never heard of that invention called tarmac, then you'd be heading for an earlier change rather than later. We have stone chipped roads full of uneven surfaces and pot holes everywhere, so I will be looking at changing mine sometime - but luckily I can upgrade mine to the Hydraulic Progressive Cushions by KYB that make them for PSA.

I already checked for the other member on his DS regarding replacements by KYB, but they don't supply them (yet).

Marc,
Thanks for all the information; it's very helpful. I checked with the main DS dealer, and they said they have no tools or anything for suspension diagnostics. They also mentioned there's no calibration available. They're completely useless here in Ireland.

I've already added more weight to the boot (suggestions from a different topic) to see a difference in driving, and honestly, it's noticeable. On top of the swinging suspension, my rear tire on LHS are wearing out quickly, which is a separate issue.

I live in a rural area, and the car has done 74k km. The reason I think I should change the shocks is that when driving over potholes, etc., it's noticeable that the rear left suspension is knocking. It's something you know isn't right, but visual inspection hasn't proved anything,
Parts are not cheap; the main dealer quoted me €375 + VAT for each. So, I would go for that, hoping to fix at least half of the issues. I'm not very happy to spend thousands more on a new car especialy with DS price droop,

Should I replace both shock or just one, the one what i think it couse an issue? the price difference will be significant, is there any place in UK where I could order them directly?

Hi

Regarding the shocks ALWAYS replace them in pairs, because of road handling and stability issues. The prices I quotes above are dealer prices inclusive of UK VAT (20%), but exclude fitting costs.

I just had a look at KYB and again for the DS7, with your suspension struts, they are not available yet as you can see from the picture:

The correct ones don't seem to be available from alternative suppliers that I can see.
