BB Leaf MOT day today,

Thankfully a pass with nothing for me to do. :-D

When the BB Micra got through the MOT in July, it was rewarded with an impromptu celebratory trip the tale in words and pictures told here. viewtopic.php?p=807335#p807335 Following on from that I made this suggestion...
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 27 Jul 2024, 08:37 I think the MOT passing Celebratory Drive-out for pleasure should be compulsory, and turn into an FCF tradition :-D A simple trip of pure "Motoring for Pleasure"
Did achieve a bit of support from Mick resulting in this thread here....
viewtopic.php?p=807357#p807357
The only requirement is that the picture shall include the car concerned and be taken on the day of the successful test!! Let's see them in all their glory!! :-D
I am obliged to make an entry on that thread, I can easily manage the image on the day, but the Falcon "Trip" element for the Leaf may have to be delayed. Monday isn't a "normal" trip day chez Falcon, and today is dull, wet and misty and generally unphotogenic. I do like an atmospheric night-time photo though still plenty time left on MOT pass day to meet the requirements :-D

Wasn't sure where to put this but here goes:
Octopus energy ran a competition for three months with a new EV as a prize each month, I entered and as expected wasn't successful but I got a message saying I'd won one of the subsidiary prizes, it arrived this. morning.

Thanks Jim, it already has passed :-D I've edited it in in green now. There was an advisory which comes up every year...the rear brake pipes covered in grease or some other gunge no doubt put on by me at some time in a haphazard fashion to attempt to delay corrosion!

If there was a Ministry of Photography, I would have failed my MOP test tonight, not quite what I had in mind. Left it too late but it was quiz night on the TV. :-D

Thanks Alec, I left it too late for the official "MOT passing day" photo shoot, 21.20 and it was just too dark for my equipment and my skill. :-D

The "Chimes" at the start of your clip are spookily similar to the switch on chimes of the classic Leaf :-D

I thought Simon may be getting a little tired of all things Leaf Parking brake on his blog, so here are a couple of diagrams of the entire foot-operated parking brake arrangement from pedal to shoes for reference. Not much to it really.

I'm afraid insurance is anything but bargain basement in the Falcon book. I am going through a phase where you get the renewal, and end up just sticking with the current provider because the formerly productive compare the market, confused, money supermarket direct line etc etc annual dance I cant be bothered with. I run out of steam after going just one comparison site and finding top of the list is only £20 cheaper than the renewal quote.

Its as if the competing firms on the comparison sites somehow "know" the level of your renewal and you never get the outlying quotes of significantly cheaper offers than your renewal any more.

So its the AA for another year on the Leaf, bit of discount for a "no changes" on-line renewal. Round about £300 for 12,000 miles allowance.

Yes, I gave up on all of that tomfoolery years ago Neil... LV for the house, Picasso and breakdown and Mr. Flux for the AXs... Hard to beat and easy to renew. In fact if I do nothing they just renew like magic ;)

Both companies have the most excellent customer service and that's worth a lot to me... Happy to pay a small premium for that...

View from the BB Leaf window, as it is about to cross the Teviot via the 19th Century Nisbet Bridge. 81081 clicked by on the odometer the course of the trip. Had a little drink in Kelso market place at the 30p/kWh Chargeplace Scotland AC charger, which the Leaf sups up 6 ish kWh in one hour which at current consumption (4.9 miles/kWh over the last 1215.8 miles) adds 30 ish miles.
