I suppose if she had had the car for a couple of years then a gearbox breaking may well have writing it off. It's one of the hazards of elerley cars, when do you bin it rather than fixing it. At least we now know that it has a new clutch, had the car got binned and another one got, it could well have broken too. She is hoping to get 3 years from it now and if so, it will still have been cheap motoring.
