It shouldn't be too difficult, just get some trim removal tools:
DS4 Centre Console.PNG
Using trim removal the tools, unclip:
Clip (at "b")
The trim (1) (at "a")

The diagram shows a left hand drive, but is a symmetrical operation on both sides.

Hi guys, quick update. I conducted a quick experiment, and it worked! I closed all the vents in the car, turned the heater on manual and up full, then blasted down the central air vent with a blow gun from my compressor and hey presto the fan spun up! No trim or motor removal necessary. Dont know if this will work for everyone but its surely got to be worth a try! Peace ✌

This is what can happen - the motor bearings can stiffen up with water condensation over time - and as the blower motor resistors are only designed to slowly spin up the motor, they have insufficient welly to get the motor going. A temporary direct shunt on full power (bypassing the resistor temporarily) will often kick start it, but you'll find this may happen again and again.

On a homeward bound journey it may be helpful to turn the climate control up to a warmer / hotter temperature for the last leg home and that may help keep the heater unit warmer and reduce condensation, but ultimately it may require a blower motor unit replacement at some stage when it gets worse.

Yeah, had figured it was only a temporary fix but I will take it as a win for now at least! I also have my trim removal tools now so when it does die for good I'm all set for the replacement of the motor. Peace

Good morning. Have a new problem now, I have noticed that whilst I can get the heater to spin up on manual, as soon as I switch it back onto automatic it just shuts off. Could this be something to do with the control resistor? Peace

Don't forget that with Automatic Climate Control the fans don't necessarily speed up on maximum straight away - it is usually a staggered approach, reaching the desired temperature settings gradually as the system is able to comply using engine temperature and air heating resistors to achieve this (in the case of warmth) as nothing is served by putting everything on full blast.

So on AUTO mode, you can try setting the temperature controls to a setting one above the lowest or one setting under the highest (because setting the temperature dial to HI or LO maximums disengages climate control) and then see if after a while the fan speeds start to increase over 5 minutes or so. Of course this will all depend on the outside ambient temperature and the perceived cabin temperature as to how long it will take (as it is not physically measured). But you should be able to hear the gradual increase in fan speed as the system compensated and adjusts within 5 minutes or less.
