EAT 6 - is this correct oil?

Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
I shouldn't be. But I am probably in minority when it comes to changing the oil in the gearbox. Most of the people stick to "sealed for life" marketing gimmick.

I managed to find Febi Bilstein in my country. The autoparts store typed in OEM oil number in their suppliers program and also got this same Febi Bilstein in the results. Fantastic! I ordered 11 liters to do 3 changes.

Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
Hello. Could you manage to change the atf? How did it go?
Did it make Any differences of the transmission behavior ?
Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
Not yet, the oil arrived 2 days ago. Hopefully, I'm changing it tomorrow and I'll post the results.
Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
The oil change is done! The oil inside was not bad, considering 120.000km on the clock, and I doubt previous owner ever changed it. It was dark but not burnt and you could still see red color in it. The change in transmission is not drastic, but it is noticeable, it shifts smoother then before.
The total cost, oil and labor, was 180€. It could be a few euros cheaper since I bought 11 liters, but 10 is enough for 3 changes. The price is a bargain comparing this to 130€ for 2 liter at the dealer.
For those interested at the procedure, it's exactly like on this video:

I'm wondering about if the TCC engagement become a little softer.
Can you please share the oil brand and specs you used?
Lol i was just about to ask if it was the same changing oil of TF-80SC then i saw you edited your post.
Thank You!
Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
You're welcome. I bought Febi Bilstein 101161. https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/febi-b ... 27765.html
If you type Peugeot the part number for oil in this page, this oil is in the results. The local part store also used their program and got the same oil. Part number is 9734.R7.
TCC looks fine to me, it was never harsh, it can be only better now.
How much on the clock does your Peugeot have?

Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
Well, most manufacturers recommend every 60.000 kilometers. As you can see, my change was late another 60.000 since I didn't buy this car brand new, and no problems. Personally, If I were you, I would change the oil, better be safe the sorry. And it's not so expensive investment for peace of mind. The guy on the video I posted also changed at 60k.

We can't even convince the authorized service dealers to change the ATF , here in Turkey.mara- wrote: ↑31 Aug 2019, 21:46 Well, most manufacturers recommend every 60.000 kilometers. They're going by the saying "Factory said that this is a liftetime fluid, it doesn't change unless there is a problem"
Literally facepalm.

That's their loss then - they will lose the business - it is well-documented how to change the oil in all the service information. Fairly easy to do yourself though.

Is your car still under warranty? If not, you could go to some local repair shop and change it.
Or do it yourself. I regret not doing it myself, since the place which did the change, by my instructions, asked for 40€.
My only issue is that I could hardly lift the car straight up, it must be flat when draining the oil.

Warranty is expired months ago.mara- wrote: ↑01 Sep 2019, 14:22 Is your car still under warranty? If not, you could go to some local repair shop and change it.

Sadly, me doing the oil change is completely out of the question. I don't have such equipment.
The reason i want to change ATF is sometimes i get a slight bump when downshifting. Guess i'll just have to live with that.
